Explore the desert landscape of Joshua Tree National Park by SUV or van on a tour from Palm Springs. Drive over the San Andreas Fault and up steep canyons to scenic viewpoints, and take a guided hike to Hidden Valley. You'll learn from your guide about the history and wildlife of the high and low desert, and get great photo-ops of the sculpture-like rock formations and the famous Dr. Suess-like Joshua trees.
  • Tour of Joshua Tree National Park, with Hidden Valley hike, from Palm Springs
  • Check out the San Andreas Fault and learn about southern California's geology
  • See towering rock formations in Hidden Valley
  • Look for wildlife and get great desert photo ops
  • Includes picnic lunch, bottled water, transportation, and guided hike
Your tour starts with pickup in a climate-controlled SUV or van from either the Greater Palm Springs area or the Visitor Center in the town of Joshua Tree. If you're coming from Palm Springs, your guide shares details about the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass wind and solar farms that you pass en route.
Once you arrive at Joshua Tree National Park (admission included), you'll see two deserts and the transition zone between the two ecosystems. Listen to informative commentary from your guide about the history of the area, the plants, and animals of the high desert, and the origins of the national park. Your guide provides a picnic lunch that you eat in a scenic location.
Follow your guide on a hike to Hidden Valley, which is known for its majestic rock formations. Stop at Key’s View Overlook, located at 5,185 feet (1,580 meters) in elevation, with views that extend to Mexico on a clear day.
At the end of the tour, return to your original departure point.
Be sure to bring sturdy walking shoes, sun protection, and comfortable clothing for warm and cool weather. It is recommended to dress in layers as desert temperatures can change quickly. Please note that temperatures in the park can be much cooler than in the low desert.

This was a really great tour. Morgan was extremely knowledgeable. Yes sometimes overwhelming with some of her knowledge but I did find myself repeating some of the things that she told us, so was worth every word. This tour is a great hiking tour and the sites you see are amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great trip! Very nice people are running it. I absolutely recommend it, especially if you come from abroad and cannot visit this desert on your own!
