Traveler Tips

There is a comfort stop on the way for refreshments and the usual .
Recommended stop off for a 'strong' coffee' turkish Cypriots style.
I recommend it primarily to people of middle age and older.

Enjoyable day out
Wendy_B, Mar 2023
Enjoyable day out. Comfortable air conditioned coach. Vassos the guide was very knowledgeable. Salamis, fascinating ruins. Famagusta port interesting walled town. Was unexpected that we drove through some of abandoned Famagusta. Thought we would only see it from a distance. Long coach trip there and back but get to see different areas of cyprus in comfort

Good value
Steven_M, Mar 2023
Plenty to see and very informative tour. It was a long day but worth it. The ghost town was spooky. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

St Barnabos' Monistary...

Thank you for nice review
Very interesting trip
Tanya_M, Feb 2023
It was great to see the ancient gymnasium at Salamis and to walk around Famagusta. It was a long day with lots of stops (maybe the first coffee stop wasn't really necessary or perhaps a bit too long?) but it was very interesting and the guide was great. Regarding Varosha, we didn't get to walk around - we just went round some streets on the bus - it would have been great to walk around a bit.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Thank you for your feedback. Our explanation for both points you mentioned is that for the coffee stop we found over our experience that the majority of pasengers require a convinience stop to stretch and refresh due to the fact is along journey ( 2 hours long). Again as becuse is a long journey from/to Paphos, time is a crusial factor and limited us as to how will allocate it. In fact walking around within chost youe need first of all special perimission and more importantly you need another 45-60 minutes to go and come back. Consideriong the time you return and adding additional time it would have been, in our opinion not a long day, but very tyring as well
Very good

Paphos to Famagusta
Pille_M, Dec 2022
This tour was worth to do, It’s long day trip, we arrived back to Paphos 6:30 PM. You can get short overview about Famagusta region. On the each place we hasn’t much time, but I understood it is one day trip.
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Thank you for your feedback. Indeed the return trip is more than 400km and our time to stops are tight up

Andrew_C, Oct 2022
Even though being a Cypriot it was heartbreaking to see all the destruction they did and to see them there the driver and tour guide made the whole trip excellent will definitely recommend
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thank you for your reply and your observation is correct
Full 10 hour day take sunscreen
Nicola_T, Aug 2022
Pick up on time from the hotel and it is a full 10 hour trip. Lots to see along the way and Maria did an excellent commentary. Very hot at Salamis so take sun cream and a hat, plenty of toilet and drink stops there. In famagusta lots of restaurants shops bars as well as the ghost city seen from the coach, only downside was waiting at the border on the return but a brilliant day.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Thank you for your review. Indeed Famagusta is our longest trip, good to hear that is rewarding.
Interesting trip to historical sites in the occupied part of Cyprus
Alessandro_L, Aug 2022
Very interesting trip, an occasion to see the occupied part of Cyprus and to know more about its recent dramatic story.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Your the best ambassadors to share your experience with the world.
The Salamis tour was ok....
Andrew_V, Aug 2022
The Salamis tour was ok. Going over border into Famagusta was too long and the toilets were disgusting, no toilet paper and loos did not flush. Maybe tourist board should liase with cleaners
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Apologise for the dissapointing for hygiene conditions in Famagusta. We will pass your disappointment to the Turkish cypriot escort who was onboard the bus but need to clarify the Famagusta is not under the juristiction of the Deputy Mininistry for Tourism of Cyprus or EU health & safety regulations. Is Turkish military controlled area
An OK trip
Adrian_H, Jul 2022
This is a very interesting excursion but just seems a little rushed at times. Would have been better if we had stopped at the Ghost City instead of just driving past it. Overall an OK trip
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Thank for the feeedback. Need to clarify that most of the Ghost city is not accessible to any one (military zone). Ref tight up on time, is due to the fact is a long trip
Well worth doing.
Aileen_S, Jul 2022
Really enjoyed this trip. Very interesting a lot of history from ancient salamis to the more modern history of various.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Glad to hear that you liked the tour. Thank you!
Very good but could be improved
Elizabeth_E, Jul 2022
Very interesting trip with knowledge tour guild but the first refreshment stop approximately an hour after being picked up was a waste of half an hour. It was a motorway service stop so of no interest. It appeared to be just a money making scheme for the owners selling food and refreshments. The other two stops afterwards were more historiclally interesting. We only had about an hour and a half in Famagusta and this was a lunch stop so there was no time to explore and I would really have loved to. All this said it was nice to get away from the holiday resort for the day and the ghost village was sad to see but very interesting history .
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Thank you for your feedback. Yes the first stop is for strenching up and convinience and honestly is not money making scheme as we are NOT getting anything out of it. We see it entirerly as a conviniece stop. Famagusta trip is full of history but on the other hand is a long trip from Paphos and need to be a bit aware of the timings.
Lovely day out

Indeed Famagusta is one of the best selling tours.
A great day out with the wonderful Maria
andobrien, Feb 2020
The tour was very well organised and the coach was comfortable. Every site we visited was well worth the long drive and our guide, Maria, was full of facts, stories and anecdotes which brought the rich history and cultural heritage of the island to life. Fascinating and informative from start to finish.

Full day famagusta was fabulous!!
Krystal_S, Jan 2020
Firstly, I do these types of tours wherever I travel and Oola is definitely in the bracket of those who are excellent and the best of the best at what they do. She was on the coach when we boarded at the start and that made a big difference ( I did another tour and with another guide and it was not like this), she also knew when to talk, how much information give and got the balance perfect so that you could still talk amongst yourselves but gave us pertinent information. She was very approachable and had her own little witty jokes that made us laugh. I will add for anyone who isnt aware it's a dual language tour so they also had a Russian guide that translated. The tour was so well organised from start to finish - the driver came exactly at 7.40 like quoted, in crossing the border checkpoints ( one going out and two on coming back) it was a methodical process and there was more than enough time at each site to hear information, walk around, shop and take pictures. One thing that was also well organised was the idea of the 3 course lunch (with a glass of wine) for 12 euros. By placing our orders on the bus it meant that food was ready when we arrived and gave us more time to explore once we'd finished eating. On the way back Oola again understood that people would have that lull and so she kept talking to the minimum, she was also very clear about what would happen for those who has been picked up by mini bus in the morning and clearly advised in what order everyone would be dropped off in. Even though, it is a long day in theory, the excellent organisation between the driver and guides made for a seamless experience so that you didn’t realise how long the day actually was. A big shout out to the driver Adamas / Adamos and he was equally very friendly. No hesitation in recommending this tour at all

Famagusta/Salamis and lightning visit past Varosha from Paphos Excellent!!!!!!!!
Paul Andrew S, Dec 2019
Picked up at 8.00am from Paphos-note 2hr trip to get to border checkpoint-Did stop for a quick coffee/toilet break on way-much needed.Do not forget passport.First stop after checkpoint was Salamis -a must see -pleae note seeing theatre, then gymnasium /baths is needed fast-move around quick a limited time at site which is large-donot forget ither areas-romona street et and fishmarket there - do not stay with guideall the time.Next stop was Saint Baranabus Monastry well worth quick visit see tomb/church then onto Famagusta for lunch and free time- 2hrschoice of having lunch -recommmend take packed lunch asmuch to see with Monasatrys/Venetin Walls and market streets. Recommended stop off for a 'strong' coffee' turkish Cypriots style. really good.We then got on coach and toured around streets edge of Varosha only-No photos allowed and no access just staring at empty shells of house abandoned 45years ago due to political disagreements. Then back to Paphos 2hrs -really good guide nice to see different side of Cyprus.
Response from Host, May 2020
Thank you for you comment and happy that you liked the tour.A minor correction though...is not just a political disagreement...in 1974 there was a military invasion and people forcefully abandon Varishia!
