This Is A Scam Tour
, Mar 2019
We booked this tour 1 month in advance and had it confirmed several times. They told us to meet at the address on the vouchers. There was no address on the vouchers. The phone number to the tour operator was disconnected. Viator told us the morning of the tour that the tour operator is out of business. 2 days after the scheduled tour, Viator wont give is money back until they get approval from the defunct tour operator first. It's hilarious because they can't get a hold of the tour operator. Viator also told me that they couldn't remove the tour from their website. Schedule this tour to loose your money!
No-one showed up to take the tour. There was no location specified on the voucher. I emailed the tour provider who did not respond. I searched online and saw that someone who took the tour previously mentioned meeting at a specific cafe. I went there at the appointed time to be told that the cafe owner knew nothing about the tour, that the last time the tour organisers had used the cafe was a number of months ago and that since then there had been a stream of people arriving at the cafe looking for the tour but left disappointed.
Dreadful. The ticket did not specify the meeting point. We emailed the tour company but no response. Looked up online and found a location mentioned - Angelina Cafe. Went there at the specified time but no-one else there. Asked the lady working there who said that she has a stream of people coming to the cafe looking for the tour but that the tour has not been in their cafe for a number of months. She was actually annoyed that her cafe was being associated with such poor service.
This was a wonderful tour! The tour starts off in Angelina Cafe. We were given iced chocolate because it was such a hot and humid day and it was a delicious drink. The tour guide told the life long story of Coco Chanel. We spent about 45 minutes in the cafe. She had a binder with pictures depicting various parts of CC's life. We left the cafe and wandered through Paris, going to her first shop hats, which would nowadays be considered a pop up shop, her fashion house, her home at the Ritz, while listening to stories of her life.
My one recommendation would be to use the pictures/images that are in tour guide's binder on an ipad just to go with the times, binders are a bit dated. It would be a more clean and sleek presentation.
Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you are a lover of CC and a fashionista!
Wonderful tour with great guide -- I believe she was Laura from Canada. Friendly and well informed. A modest amount of walking, interesting anecdotes and history. Coco Chanel was a complicated woman and this tour brings her to life. Its not about the brands and products, its about her life and history in Paris.
We started with the best hot chocolate I have ever had at Angelina while our guide, Marie, described the background of Coco Chanel. She had visuals which made the information more real and understandable. Then we walked through the streets to see important buildings relating to Coco Chanel and ended up at the Ritz where Coco Chanel lived. During the tour we stopped at the Chanel store and got permission to see and take photos of Chanel's famous mirrored staircase. Marie was also able to answer questions about Paris in general. She was very knowledgeable and interesting. I would definitely take this tour.
Fun and informative tour. Met at Angelina's and enjoyed the delicious hot chocolate to start the tour. Walked some of the areas Coco Channel lived and worked. I wish the tour guide was a little more dressed to perfection as Coco, but She was friendly and warm in her presentation.
