Giverny and Versailles Small Group Day Trip from Paris

Giverny and Versailles Small Group Day Trip from Paris

Depart from your central Paris hotel and head first for Giverny, where Monet once lived. Wander through the exquisite gardens—the water lily garden is the most famous, appearing in so many of Monet’s paintings—and tour the great artist’s former home.

The next stop is the Musée des Impressionnismes not far from Monet’s house. The museum features an extensive Impressionist collection as well as some temporary exhibits. Stop for lunch at the charming Moulin de Fourges restaurant (included).

Continue your tour to the famous Palace of Versailles. Inside, see the suite where Louis XIV lived, the much-photographed Hall of Mirrors and the apartment of the Dauphin and Dauphine. Outside, explore the expansive gardens and watch the water dancing in the impressive fountains.

Versailles Fountain Show Special Program:
Note that Saturdays and Sundays from April to October and Tuesdays from mid-May through June the fountain displays are set to music to spectacular effect. The music used in the show dates from the time of Louis XIV’s court. Entry fees to see the show are included in the cost of this tour.

Cristof of Paris City Vision was an excellent driver and guide. We went to Versailles first and even though we arrived in the AM, the lines were so very long. This tour includes skip the line admission, so we were able to sail right by the crowds and enter the chateau in fairly short order. The included lunch is at a lovely spot along a stream and the food and wine were quite tasty. Monets home and gardens in Giverny are not to be missed and Cristof made the entire adventure fun and informative. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour.

Versailles is a bit overwhelming, while I liked seeing it I much preferred seeing Monet's home. The grounds of Giverny are beautiful, right out of his paintings.

The tour was lovely. Versailles was grand but very crowded. The gardens and dwelling at Versailles are enormous and opulent. After Versailles, the tour guide takes the group for lunch at a charming restaurant by a small river . The food was excellent. After lunch the tour goes to Monet's home at Giverny. This location was the complete opposite of Versailles. It is intimate and beautiful.
