What To Expect

One of the most influential designers of the 20th century, Yves Saint Laurent is credited with revolutionizing ready-to-wear collections and introducing the tuxedo suit for women. Get an insider’s glimpse into the life and work of this creative genius with a visit to his former fashion house in Paris, now called the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.

Make your way to the elegant mansion that houses the studio, just north of the Eiffel Tower, for a guided tour of the multifaceted exhibition space. Experience what it was like to be one of Saint Laurent’s clients in a ground-floor viewing and purchasing lounge. See original works of art by painters who inspired the designer, including Picasso, Matisse and Van Gogh, plus personal artifacts like a walking stick that was a gift from Christian Dior.

Wander through several well-appointed salons where Saint Laurent created many of the collections that defined his later career, and get insight into his creative process through original annotated sketches and prototypes of haute couture pieces that later graced Parisian runways.

After your guided tour, stay to visit the temporary exhibits on display in the Foundation’s other salons.

The tour is informative and Yves Saint Laurent studio is really interesting to see. Nevertheless, when you hear how many units of sketches, clothes and etc. the Foundation has (literally, thousands), it is a pity that you get to see just one studio room with a few pieces of clothes. Maybe because I had a chance previously to visit other fashion houses, I expected to see more. You also get to see the temporary exhibition, yet at that time, it was about Morocco. Unless you are into that culture/topic, it is not exactly what you would expect as part of the tour.

Good tour led by guide at YSL Foundation. Great value and learned quite a bit about YSL and was fun seeing his studio. Good "off the beaten path" tour for Paris travelers.
