One of the most beautiful places I was able to visit on my trip to Europe. It is a lot of walking, many stairs, and uneven ground. Wear comfortable shoes and if you are traveling in the winter it is very windy. Make sure you know where the bus is going to be for departure time, because the bus that takes you to and from the Abby changes stops in the afternoon without you knowing and it can cause you to miss the bus.
Awesome place, very comfortable bus Paris City Vision, very knowledgeable guide, but could have been a tad longer at the Mont as travel time alone to and from Paris was aprox 8 hours, so when you factor in a quick lunch lunch, you have about five hours to explore, which seems like a lot of time on paper, but when you get there you wish you had more time.
Could not have been better! the Bus was super. the in-between stops were appropriate the host was very knowledgeable and accommodating
It was worth the trip. Although we toured the abby independently, yet our tour guides and drivers were all very helpful. The coach was comfortable and relaxing. Thank you for conducting this tour. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed this tour, specifically how self guided it was!
The coach was great to travel in and we were given lots of good information from our guide before arriving at Mont St-Michel! We had the perfect amount of time to explore the town, the abbey, have lunch and leisurely walk back to the bus. There were also audioguides available to rent at the abbey for anyone who wanted more info as well!
Definitely would recommend this tour, especially for people who like the self explore and see sites at their own pace!
I highly recommend this tour if you're trying to get to Mont St-Michel from Paris. It's a 5-hour trip each way, and there's no mass transit other than buses because it's so remote. Our bus driver made stops about halfway through each way, at a very nice rest stop type area where there were plenty of restrooms and lots of choices for drinks and food. Along the way, the guides that were with the tour gave us some history of the site.
Once at the bus parking area, a tram was available to take us to the main entrance. Some of those on the bus were taking the guided tour, but we were signed up only for the independent tour, and honestly, I feel like we got to see more at a more leisurely pace. I'm sure the guide offered some interesting tidbits and history, but I did my own research online before we went so we could explore at our own pace, and by doing so, we didn't waste time at the lunch that was scheduled for the tour group. We had plenty of time to see it all and we didn't feel rushed. I had time to walk the ramparts and look for photo ops, while my husband had a cold beer.
I highly recommend that you walk quickly past the numerous stores and street vendors at the bottom of the hill and head straight for the Abbey at the top. The crowds at the top get very overwhelming late in the afternoon, and you won't be able to see nearly as much. After you see the Abbey, you can then take a leisurely stroll back down, enjoying the sights as you go. Do take time to notice how quickly the tide rushes in around the island.
This company was higly organized, professional, and on time. Much better than several others that we worked with in our 3-week European vacation. I highly recommend them and this tour.
Good tour. Would recommend this one over the more expensive ones that include lunch and a guide. You have the freedom to have lunch on your own instead of a fixed menu and you can get audio guides reasonably cheap at the abbey. And you can climb at your own pace in case you have issues doing so together with a group. Also, the Guide did give info along the way in the bus, we separated from the group once off the bus, since we had not paid for that part of the guided tour and lunch.
Perfect! I have longed to see Mont Saint-Michel for twenty years, so I finally opted for this rather long day trip. It was fantastic!
The bus is comfortable and the French countryside is beautiful.
Do not do lunch-rent audio guide and lunch on the battlements. Perfect time to visit, eat, shop.
This tour is spectacular! Of all the tours I did while visiting Paris, this was my favorite. I did not do the guided tour and I am glad I didn't. I had just enough time to see everything on my own. When you make it up to the abbey, you can buy an audio tour for about 5 euro. Abbey is a truly beautiful place. The grounds and gardens are very nice. The village has restaurants and creperies and souvenirs including linens and statuary. I highly recommend this tour!
Exactly what we were looking for, comfortable transportation to and from the site with the freedom to explore on our own. Modern double-decker buses that made pit-stops allowing us to stretch our legs and grab a snack. Initially I was concerned about a nearly ten hour round-trip by bus. But a ride through the beautiful countryside topped off with the opportunity to experience an incredible UNESCO site made the entire trip worth it!
Worth taking the 4h each way bus ride from Paris for a day!
We took the independent version no guided tour or lunch and I recommend this approach. You can explore the abbey right away instead of going to the lunch outside of Mont St Michel with the group. You beat the crowds and see the Abbey without tons of people around.
Bus was comfortable. Seats go far back for easy napping. Bring your phone USB charger as the bus has USB plugs.
The bus stops for 30 mins each way. This is a bit longer than necessary but with groups it is expected.
Great day. Did independent tour and had enough time to do all we wanted. Long bus ride but that goes with seeing Mont St Michel. Loved it.
Time is enough for the trip, yet it'd be better to spend overnight as the travelling time is almost a double of the visit time. Still, if you wish to spend one day there, it's good enough!
We had an amazing time!
We didn and #39;t select the guided tour(we didn and #39;t get earbuds to listen to the guild) but they explained a ton to everyone on the bus.
Once we arrived, we loved just being able to explore ourselves and go as quickly or as slowly as we and #39;d like.
I and #39;d go again if I return to France!!
Great 1 day trip. Bus Team was coordinated and trip was great. We really enjoyed the visit to Mont St-Michel. We did not NON-LUNCH version and headed right for the Abbey. This was the way to go. We had plenty of time to explore, take pictures many many pictures and grab a bite in the fantastic surrounding village. Take this trip if you get a chance, you will not regret it.
I highly recommend taking this tour. It was excellent. A guide was NOT necessary, but here are some tips/words of advice:
1. There is a cafe across the street from where the bus picks you up. Quick service and open super early!
2. Bring your phone charger. There are USB plugs on the bus and it is a longggg ride.
3. This is the most important - eat lunch as soon as you arrive! We made the mistake of exploring Mont St-Michel first. By time we were done, which was around 3:00, everything had closed. We really wish the guide would have mentioned this.
4. Wear comfortable sneakers/boots and bring an umbrella, even if it says it's not going to rain.
Mont St Michel is beautiful but please wear comfortable shoes if you plan to go. There are a lot of steps going up to the abbey as well as more steps once you are inside the abbey. I would not recommend this if you have knee issue as there seems to be over 100 steps just going up to the abbey. Otherwise, we enjoy this trip. We like the independent tour as we can do it at our pace.
It was a long day of travel but was well worth it. We really enjoyed wandering the streets and the ramparts and soaking in the views, especially from the cathedral terrace at the top. It is an amazing spot.
a super long day, but so well worth every second. the scenery and location is just magical. i wish we had more time to explore. there are so many nooks and crannies. i plan on returning and staying in a hotel right on the mont to savor the tide going in and out, and the romantic atmosphere at night.
The bus is comfort with sufficient time to stop over for breaks.
