Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

It's a long drive from Paris to reach this wondrous place, but totally worth it! If you can, be sure to climb to the top of the historic abbey for the best views.

$126.15 USD

Your day trip to Mont St.-Michel starts as you depart central Paris by coach in the early morning for the approximate 3.5-hour drive west to the Normandy coast.

When you arrive in the medieval village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique location on a tiny rocky island, you’ll begin your visit with an included lunch. (See the Itinerary for a sample menu.) Then follow your guide on a walking tour, climbing up narrow lanes to the top of the village. Hear about Mont St.-Michel’s history as a pilgrimage destination in the Middle Ages and its renowned abbey, which, according to legend, was founded in the eighth century when the bishop of Avranches received a vision of Michael the Archangel.

Arriving at the abbey with your guide, admire its cloister, refectory, and ramparts, and look out at the sea below, hearing about the extreme tides that surround the island. After your tour ends, you're free to wander up and down the streets of the village on your own to explore more. Perhaps shop for gifts and souvenirs, visit a museum, or just admire views of the Atlantic.

Your total time at Mont St.-Michel is approximately four hours. You’ll then return by coach to Paris, where your day trip ends.

It would have been nice if... our guides had introduced themselves at the beginning.

It would have been nice if... the servers at the restraunt would have remembered the first step to customer service is a smile and a warm greeting.

It would have been nice if... we were not sitting 13 to a table piled literally on top of each other.

It would have been nice if... we could have had enough water for everybody.. 2 liters for 13 people.

It would have been nice if...the servers would have noticed we had no water or even been around for us to ask for more.

It would have been nice if... there would have been enough rolls for everyone to have one.

It would have been nice if... there was something to go on the rolls like butter.

It would have been nice if... we would have been told what we were eating.

It would have been nice if... there would have been something inside the puff pastry that should have been the main course.

It would have been nice if... our guide would have realized that perhaps some of us were slow going up the stairs because we were enjoying the magnificant views and the experience, rather than

Amazing place and tour well worth it!

This is a full day excellent tour. Lunch was great, and the bus ride long but enjoyable. The sights and history along the way was lovely. If you have the time, take this tour, its worth every penny.

The place is magnificent but just like any tour, the whole experience is rated. We paid for pickup and drop off to our hotel. Cab picking us up was slow on the communication of who he was so there was a 10 minute delay between actual and real time pickup. There are no toilettes washrooms at the ParisCityVision office so if you're going to use their service better be ready not to have one. The bus has a toilette though. Don't go to the hotel next door to their office since those people are rude - maybe it's because so many tourists have come in asking if they have a washroom. Lunch was set - so we had no choice. If you did not like fish or were lactose intolerant, you will suffer since there were no other choices. The tour guide was ok, not fabulous. She did know when to talk and when to give people time to reflect or even sleep on the long stretches between Paris and St Michel. Since the day we went was also Fifa World Cup, we were given subway tickets to find our way back to our hotels. The cost of the subway was far less than the cost of the cab - an amount we paid for this trip. Now we have to complain to Viator for the difference because ParisCityVision refuses to work with us on this. At the end of the day, it's not the amount, it's the way it was said, it was how we were treated that left a bad taste in our mouth.

This is not a review of Mont St. Michel, but rather of the tour. The tour fell far below expectations. First, the tour involves a five hour drive to and from Paris. The tour operator does not provide water or any other refreshments. Instead, you stop at a gas station for half an hour each way. Second, the

Amazing trip to Mont St Michel, long bus ride but worth it. The guides were friendly and helpful. Lunch was fine, but nothing spectacular.

The trip to Mont St. Michel is wonderful! It's so amazing to see the site and the guide was just wonderful - very knowledgeable, patient and informative. The bus ride is pleasant and the stops along the way are nice to allow for bathroom breaks and to stretch your legs. But the climb up to the Abbey is not for the weak - it's strenuous and if you have knee or lung issues, you may want to reconsider. The guide was good about taking it slow and waiting for all to move at their own pace. But once you get up there - wow! A memorable, magical experience.

It is worth seeing it but we wish we had made it an overnight trip. Five hour coach trip is almost as long as our flight to Paris, so it was taxing on us.

Mont. St. Michel is a beautiful place, don't miss it, the trip was comfortable and the tour guide and drivers were very helpful, we loved it.

I usually don't write bad reviews, because I think it is never possible to find a tour without any glitches, and one should have some compassion for others.

However, it is a pity it has to go this way, as I felt that the customer service does not match the price we paid for this trip.
After I booked on viator and received a confirmation I thought all was good, and since I booked it via. my mobile phone, I called their customer service to ensure that they have the right address for the hotel pick up.

I wrote 2 emails no reply, and called, they said they cannot do the hotel pick up and when I asked that you need to refund me the price difference since we paid for hotel pickup and drop off, they were also unable to tell me the price difference which I think it quite absurd. Even until this point, I still have no answer on the price difference refund and I've wrote at least 3 emails on this.

Now the nightmare begins...
Our guide did not help in the following ways:
1 our meals took over 1hrs to wait, so we had to leave early without eating the meal. Clearly I think if she took on some leadership role and time management, she could have asked the restaurant nicely, instead of doing nothing at all.
2 due to the delay of the meal, we could only opt to go take the tour by ourselves more than half of the group decided to do so. The guide I've removed name for confidential reasons was very unsympathetic and said that if we choose to go, we would have to opt out for the audio guide too. So we did not get an audio guide of the abbey either. So basically more than half of the group did not get the audio tour, as we should have.
3 We were told that the meeting time for departure was 4:20, even though the actual departure time was 4:30 with the rest. This meant that those who were on time early, had to wait on the bus for the late comers, of which she could have just told us that the actual time is 4:30 for departure. She also did not take any initiative in finding her group. To be honest if I were her, since I had let more than half of the group depart on their own, I would be extremely worried that the group would not get back on time. Again, it made me feel like she did not really care or respected the other people's time, and did not take the initiative to make things work better for the whole group in general.

I have sent several emails to Viator about this, and have not received any response, and it has really prompt me to write a bad review so others don't have to go through this same process as we did.
