What You Can Expect

Mont St.-Michel Tour from Paris with Lunch

See the cloister garden at the Mont St Michel abbey

Your day trip to Mont St.-Michel starts as you depart central Paris by coach in the early morning for the approximate 3.5-hour drive west to the Normandy coast.

When you arrive in the medieval village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique location on a tiny rocky island, you’ll begin your visit with an included lunch. (See the Itinerary for a sample menu.) Then follow your guide on a walking tour, climbing up narrow lanes to the top of the village. Hear about Mont St.-Michel’s history as a pilgrimage destination in the Middle Ages and its renowned abbey, which, according to legend, was founded in the eighth century when the bishop of Avranches received a vision of Michael the Archangel.

Arriving at the abbey with your guide, admire its cloister, refectory, and ramparts, and look out at the sea below, hearing about the extreme tides that surround the island. After your tour ends, you're free to wander up and down the streets of the village on your own to explore more. Perhaps shop for gifts and souvenirs, visit a museum, or just admire views of the Atlantic.

Your total time at Mont St.-Michel is approximately four hours. You’ll then return by coach to Paris, where your day trip ends.

Fantastic - worth the trip by itself. I would not combine it with Normandy, etc unless you are short of time since each takes a day.

Well worth the drive. Guide was great. IF you get the chance to go to Mont St Michel you must do it! Nothing else like it.

Be aware that you might encounter rain, showers or fog. But don’t let this stop you. It is a long drive, but worth it in rain or shine. An architectural marvel, and great guides and driver.

Tour is worth the travel times. Guide was great and we made friends along the way. There are 350 steps to climb the top so be aware as it doesn't mention it in the tour schedule. The shops in the village are awesome and we picked up tons of souvenirs

Awesome excursion to this little gem of Normandy not far from Paris. Take a step back in time as you walk the steps of Mont St.- Michel. Please do keep in mind that it does take around 4 hours to and from Paris each way, but worth it. If you are lucky, you may also see the tide come in and surround the island, which we were fortunate to witness during our day outing.

This is honesty a tour of a lifetime. I have always been fascinated about Mont Saint-Michel and finally seeing it in person was even more magical than I expected. The long drive was quite scenic and the weather changed from rainy to snowy and then finally sunny in the Normandy region. The lunch provided was quite average, but filling.

The wind getting to the citadel was the strongest wind I've ever experienced but once inside it wasn't too bad. There are a lot of stairs, especially leading up to the abbey so be prepared. The abbey is absolutely amazing and the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking unlike anything I've seen before. Our tour guide was very informative and gave a very detailed account of the history, especially in regards to how the monks used the church and how everything was laid out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it. It really shows you the beauty of France away from busy Paris.

Our tour guide Natie was lovely. She really knew her stuff regarding the Normandy region and Mont St.-Michel. My husband and I did this as one of three days trips from Paris, and we really loved this trip. Just a word to the wise, however, if you go to the Le Relais St. Michel for lunch, pay close attention to any purchases made in the gift shop. I was overcharged by about double for some calvados souvenirs, when taking into consideration that tax is 20 it really added up!!! I'm going to try reaching out to the restaurant to see if they will reimburse the difference, but I'm not too confident about it.

Anyway, the Mont St.-Michel was a wonder to look at, the lunch at the hotel was very good particularly the camembert appetizer...out of this world!, and the tour bus and guide were both way above par. I would highly recommend this tour.
