Great guide!!! So humbling and sobering!!! Every American should see.....
Long day, terrific tour guide who was is knowledgeable and funny. Recommended to the adventurer who loves history...
Christian was a terrific guide. She was in tune to the needs of all on the tour which impressed us due to the size of the group. Our son is a history buff and loved every aspect of the tour. He wished he had more time in the museum, but the tour is a very long day and there is really no way to pack more in. It was an informative and moving day.
The trip was fantastic. Florence was an amazing guide- the perfect balance of humor and historical information.
Highly recommend the small group tour - we had six people 3 Aussie, 3 American and our tour guide was Herve. Herve is extremely knowledgeable about WW1 and WW2 history and through his commentary on the drive to Normandy, set the stage for what we were going to see that day.
The drive is long, but Herve did a nice job of breaking it up with a short stop for snacks each way.
Van was comfortable and well suited for the group size. Lunch at the scenic farm house was delicious and provided a wonderful opportunity for the group to interact and discuss what we had seen - and differences in how history is presented and taught in each country France vs Australia vs. USA.
We visited Pointe-du-Hoc, Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Canadian Cemetery and the seaside village of Arromanches where the artificial harbors can still be seen in the water.
I recommend this tour if you only have one day to get to Normandy. Very well done.
First - the office for departure on the bus was very easy to find so that look a lot of stress off of our group. The guides were amazing - we had a double decker bus, and two guides which I appreciated. We enjoyed the Caen Memorial - don't miss the bunker outside of the building! Due to the lateness of two of the people on our bus, we had only 10 minutes at Omaha Beach. Ensure that you know where people are meeting and get there on or before the scheduled meeting time so that you don't take time away from the other - almost 50 people in our case - on the journey. Other than that, I would very highly recommend this trip.
Good tour, good choice of places to stop, very interesting.
Tough to cover everything in one day but good try.
Lunch was very good.
Tour guide very knowledgeable
well worth of money. The time is efficient and the guide is very knowledgeable.
Love history so this was a hi-light. Long day but well worth it. Very informative and overall just wonderful walking where our soldiers bravely helped save so many lives and many gave theirs.
As others have mentioned, this is a highly recommended trip. It makes a number of stops so I felt that got a good overview of the battlegrounds and the battle. A couple of tips to help- these stops are all memorials etc so there is not much time or availability of refreshments- this is a good tour to pack a extra bottle of water for the afternoon. If you want to look up a specific grave in the American Cemetery, I would find it on the internet and study it where it is so that you can go directly when you visit the cemetery. There really is not a lo of time to do a search and locate. The tour is a full 14 hours as it takes about 3 hours to get there and back plus the time to drive between the different stops. The bus was a double decker so we were not overly crowded and it did have a toilet within the bus. it made it a comfortable ride.
The tour was excellent - I wish we had more time. Our guide, Elicia was wonderful. She provided facts and additional local knowledge of the battles and how the environment impacted decisions. I would recommend this tour to anyone
Herve W. was a phenomenal guide! Not only did he provide our group of 6 with lots of information on WWII sites and battles, but he also gave us a tour of Paris sites we passed while leaving the city for Normandy.
A lot to fit into one day but it worked and we were so glad we did it!
Tour was amazing....but not enough time was allowed at each locale. Instead of having 20 minutes at 5 sites, maybe have more time and less sites. 20 minutes was barely long enough for the girls in our group to stand in line at the restrooms.
It was very sobering to see these sights that were so important to the victory of WWII. The American Cemetery and Memorial brought tears to my eyes at the great loss of life.
Lots of history on this tour. Our guide was very informative. Dont miss this tour if you go to France.
Great tour. The guide added a trip to the Canadian cemetery for me because I and #39;m Canadian. Good lunch at a very nice place in the country. Great trip.
Magnus was fantastic! This was my second trip to Normandy but it was far better with a knowledgeable tour guide. The lunch was wonderful as well!
