This was a great tour. Both of the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The best part was the headsets that you used. It was so easy to follow along with what was being said, where you were going and when you needed to move along to what was next. Even with other people around and other noises, it was very easy to follow along. The only thing that I would change would be the meeting place for the Notre Dame tour. We had to ask several people where that specific metro station was and had a hard time finding it.
fantastic- excellent guides- helpful- we would have been lost in looking around without their explanations.
Both tours were excellent. The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable about the subject matter. I would highly recommend it.
great museum and good deal for skip the line- very good guide.
Very beneficial and educational. Lilian - Our guide at the Orsay, provided background and history of the many artists whose works are displayed at the museum. She also provided background on the historic train station that is now the home of the Orsay. Covered the major areas and artists that included Van Gogh, Cezanne, Courbet, Monet, Degas and many others among our favorites. And be sure to go to the top level to look through the window with the clock for a wonderful view of Paris. Could have easily spent another hour here without being overwhelmed as the Orsay is very well organized.
For the Norte Dame tour, our guide Randa provided an introduction of French history and for Norte Dame which was helpful to a number of people in the group not familiar with the history. Notre Dame is always crowded but we managed to negotiate our way through the ground level of the church. Although the modern French people and Parisians are mostly secular, they recognize the importance of Notre Dame and other historic cathedrals as essential to their natural heritage.
claire was our tour guide for orsay, katrina for notre dame. both were excellent, informative, friendly, audible, patient and passionate in their love of the art they shared, eager to set the context for what you're seeing and really increasing your ability to enjoy it. some things to keep in mind. small group and skip the line is the only way to go. the crowds will overwhelm the experience and the lines will steal the day. particularly notre dame. get the bell tower option. the crowds inside just keep you from seeing what you want to see, despite how great katrina is, they're just too much.
Really loved the d'Orsay Tour! A highlight of our trip for sure. Our guide for that part was very knowledgable and friendly. The audio receivers are a great idea so that everyone could hear the guide clearly. We had 16 people I guess that's a small group??. The Notre-Dame Cathedral tour was fine but the guide was not able to talk inside so we stood outside for a long time while he explained things and then we stood in the security line for 20 min. He tool us for a walk around the area too. Not sure if I'd do that part again.
The tour guide was not the best we have had. Most guides have more stories and have greater interaction. This one was a bit of a let down.
great guides for both parts of the tour! We did not understand how we were meeting the 2nd guide for Notre-Dame. The d'Orsay Tour ended with the problem of getting on public transportation. A group of 6 of us, 2 from USA, 2 Spain, 2 Mexico ended up walking and waiting at the site. We would have liked to had lunch at the d'Orsay and taken leisurely walk instead of walking as fast as we could to wait over 1 hour for the next guide. I thought the group would be walking together or transferred together. This ruined the perfect tour!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable, but a little flat. The presentation was a bit dry and academic, less entertaining and engaging. Although our guide spoke English, it was with an accent that made it difficult to concentrate. Overall, the tour was a better option than wandering around aimlessly.
The tour in Notre Dame was wonderful and the tour guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us many information about the Notre-Dame and its surroundings.
The your in Musee d'Orsay was good but the tour guide was not worth the paying. Visiting the museum would have been the same if not better without him.
But both the cathedral and the museum must be visited if you are in Paris.
Guide had to improvise as the cathedral was closed at the time of the tour. We toured the island until we could get access.
