Our family thoroughly enjoyed our day to the Loire Valley. It was lovely to see the Chateaus and some of the French countryside during our stay in Paris. Our guide Carolina was wonderful, sharing stories about the history along the way and pointing out key information at each of the Chateaus but also giving us plenty of free time at each location to wander and enjoy. The hosts at Chateau Nitray were also lovely and the food delicious.
Our guide was so great. Welcomed us, explained the days schedule, and promised information Bout history of our destinations. She was extremely knowledgeable and told stories, of kngs and queens and lovers as well as of armies and battles and conquests and language. I highly recommend this trip and give 5stars to our wonderful guide. Also hats off to our driver
This was also a great tour. The countryside, the staff the tour, the castles, the food and the whole experience was worth the full day.
We loved our trip to the Loire Valley. Tina was a terrific guide. She was very knowledgeable concerning the history of the area and entertained us with stories of the kings and their ladies. We couldnt have asked for a better guide. The castle visits were wonderful and the lunch and wine tasting were very enjoyable. We had plenty of time at each stop. Overall it was a great day and I would highly recommend it!
The tour guides Adam and Hugo made this a most enjoyable day - they were both entertaining story tellers bringing to life the times of various Kings, Queens and Mistresses of the times. The wine at the first stop was very good and sold for a very good price. Lunch was delicious as well.
Amazing. Guide was fantastic. Lunch and tours well beyond expectations! We have already recommended the tour to all our friends
Wonderful day out of Paris - entertaining and knowledgeable guide, excellent site visits and a marvelous overall experience!
Was the highlight of my trip!!! Guide was amazing!!!!! Explained everything about each castle and was such a lovely woman
Guide were knowledgable and the trip was more than expected so a great day had by all
This tour was fantastic! Very easy meet up-Our tour guide Adam was waiting across from the metro and in front of the catacombs, exactly as described. We not only got to see some impressive castles and drink authentic regional wine, we also learned an amazing amount of french history that surrounds the sites. Would take a tour from City Wonders again in a heart beat.
A great tour with a great tour guide! Adam provided us with tons of historical info plus more. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
Fantastic Tour and Guide- Danyl. We got to the stop by the Catacombs and took the bus to the Chateaux's. One by one we were in love. Having our guide Danyl explain as we went through was very important. To know the history behind these massive structures that were built before us was phenomenal. Thank you to Viator and City Tours for making this so pleasurable. We enjoyed the Wine, the Food and the Company! We will definitely use Viator and City Tours on our next adventure.
This tour was awesome! Great wine, lunch, and guide. We had done numerous tours in France and it wasn't until our guide Daniel laid it out that I actually understood the history of who these people where and how they were connected to all the other places I have seen in Paris and throughout France. I learned more from him about places I had literally just visited, than I did when I was actually on those tours. Very good story teller. The locations were beautiful! The lunch spot is at a beautiful family run vineyard. Tour itself is mostly touring the castles with wine tasting as a perk vs. a wine tasting tour.
This tour was a full day, twelve hours. It was so informative and educational! We learned all about the history of the kings and queens from medieval times through the 19th century. It made what we saw and visited that much more meaningful.
Our guide, Tina Christina, did a great job of telling us in a story fashion that made it very entertaining.
The castles were amazing and beautiful and the two wine tastings were very fun and we learned about the wines of the Loire valley a bit.
Lunch was simple and delicious, and very comfortable. Our host at Chateau de Nitray was very genial.
Ruta, with CityWonders via Viator, hosted me for a 13-hour tour of the Loire Valley. It is a very beautiful bus ride, where we left Paris on the freeway, then wound our way through picturesque villages to visit 3 very different styles of castle: the hunting castle, Château de Chambord a privately-owned small castle/vineyard called Château de Nitray and then Château de Chenonceau, the home of Henry IIs mistress, Diane de Poitiers, and later acquired by his widow, Catherine de Medici.
Lunch at Château de Nitray was a simple affair, but delicious. The amiable owner served us himself, and conducted a tasting of the vineyards wines, which are offered for sale at the end of the lunch, but cannot be found elsewhere. They were excellent, and I only wish I was able to order a dozen for international delivery. Alas.
Ruta, our tour guide, was a very personable young women. Her English was excellent, and she was knowledgable and accommodating. We had an 95 year old former WWII nurse with us who had difficulty walking, and Ruta made her feel very welcome with the blessing of the rest of us on the tour, who felt honoured by her service.
I highly recommend this day away from Paris with CityWonders.
the guide was terrific and the tour was excellent. the castles were intersting to see and the nitray vineyard lunch and wine tasting were high quality.
It was a great experience to take part in this amazing tour. Our tour guides were absolutely fabulous. Adams was really witty, fun and knowledgeable and Ruta was great too. Their very interesting explanations about history kept us in good spirits for the whole very looong but never boring day. Or was that the wine? Chambord and Chenonceau are beautiful and visiting the little chateau of Nitray while drinking a glass of wine was also a highlight. Personally I would have loved to have more time at Chambord 25 minutes to visit the rest of the chateau was way too short. Also the food at Nitray could be better. At least they could serve a nice baguette tradition to accompany the delicious cheese. The roasted chicken, potaoes and veg were pleasant but rather basic. Mind you, the excellent and very affordable wine at Nitray and the very welcoming staff made up for the average food. All in all, I guess it's impossible to cram so many great places into one day and not to feel a bit rushed. Once again, I would like to thank Adams and Ruta for their excellent work. I have already recommended this tour and the guides to my friends visiting Paris. Viator were also very professional and expeditious at dealing with any issues I may have had.
Just perfect! Really recommend this day tour. The guide was really helpful and nice, the organization was great and the vineyard where who have lunch is great as well.
