Too much walking
Cindy O
, Nov 2019
Walking in louve was wonderful BUT the wine and cheese part was a good 30 minute walk from museum. If I had known that is was not in museum I would not have gone. I had already spent all day walking on a sprained ankle and was in extreme pain by the end. Also I was nervous how to not get lost. I knew my way home from the love but was so far away with many turns. Our guide was helpful but when buying the ticket online it should read, at a local bar 30 minute walk. Also the guide should have a second helper to deal with people's techno problems with audio and to stay at end of line to help help keep track of the group.

Manny is The Man

Great fun! Excellent. My only regret is that we did not have any small change to tip Manny. His knowledge and insight was excellent. The tour was a delight. Something was going on at the beginning and it took the tour people too long to figure it out. Although it seemed a little disorganized at first, once we got into the Louvre Manny made many acute observations and asked us to consider why a certain painting is famous - often a more complex answer that must take into consideration the artist, the art, the times and what else is happening geo-politically. I think the tour inside the Louvre should be 2 hours. 1 1/2 hours including the time we spent while the tour people organized us went far too quickly. The wine tasting was a nice way to end the tour, but it meant that we could not spend a bit more time in the Louvre.

Evening Mona Lisa Guided Tour

This tour of the Louvre was JUST to see the Mona Lisa. I do not believe it says that anywhere in the description. I thought we would spend the 2.5 hours seeing a few highlights of the Louvre instead of waiting in line and hearing the history of one painting. That being said, if you want to just see the Mona Lisa, this is the way to do it. We skipped a huge chunk of line, but still spent probably 2 hours in queue for 30 seconds in front of the painting (literally 30 seconds- the guards time you and then make you move). It is a bit ridiculous as you have your cameras out, rush to the painting to take photos and a selfie and then you are gone before even really getting a chance to look. Our tour guide did get us through quick enough to show us the Winged Victory statue and the Venus de Milo on our way out. The wine tasting was fun, but you didn't really get the history of the cellar and underground tunnels that they talked about.

I love our guide. She was wonderful. A few people left in our group because their family could not walk up and down the lourve. If your family has a walking disability. The group tour is a mild pace and you do not want to be late for the wine tasting. You do not want to keep the the group from moving slow. It was a great pace and I enjoyed my time. Its exactly what I wanted for my tour.

Disappointing

We did not skip any lines, never did get to see the Mona Lisa. One of the people in the group got lost no protocol to find them. We were then late for the wine tasting. First, the tasting is very brisk walk several blocks away, no where near the Louvre. Because we were late, we had a very quick tasting. Didn't receive all the wines, never discussed at all, and some cheese and meat was placed very unceramoniously in front of us. Plus 1 1/2 hours is not enough time to really see anything. I'd suggest going to the Louvre on your own and finding a nearby bistro to sit people watch and have your favorite glass of wine!

Dissapointing

There was no “skipping the line”. After 45 minutes on line waiting to see the Mona Lisa we were rushed through the rest of our tour. I will say, our tour guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. I would have enjoyed this much more if we had skipped the Mona Lisa and spent more time on other works of art. The wine tasting accompanied by cheese and charcuterie was very good and the high light of the tour.

The tour was amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable and welcomed any questions. The tour hit all the great hotspots. Afterwards, the wine tasting blew away my expectations. The price alone is worth the tasting experience.
