Catacombs are very interesting. This is worth the money to completely bypass an at least 3 hour line to get in.
You really do get to skip the line! Cold and rainy day but there was still a line to get in that went around the block. We picked up our tickets from the wine shop and went right to the entrance where we were ushered in immediately. The Catacombs itself is a very unique and interesting visit that's well worth the time!
This tour was great! Skip the line is an absolute necessity for the Catacombs! The audio guide was very informative and kept pace with our progression throughout perfectly. We had read some reviews that suggested we should go with an actual guide, but we really needed to save some money some where Paris is so lovely and so pricey! so we opted for just the audio guide. We were really happy we did. We still felt like we got the inside scoop on the Catacombs and were able to move at our pace, not that of a tour guide and whole group.
This was the easiest thing we did in Paris. This is the only way to see the Catacombs. We had no line at all. We got our tickets at the wine shop, crossed the street and entered the Catacombs. The whole evaluation took under 5 minutes. We were so pleased.
This is an amazing tour, so much history and the catacombs is a must see! Highly recommend it and it was awesome skipping the line as we went in the late afternoon/early evening and it was very cold in December.
Loved walking up and being allowed to walk right in. The Catacombs were amazing and kind of freaky simultaneously. Fun, learning adventure.
Skip the line is CORRECT! There are 2 lines to enter, with and without tickets. There was 100 in line to get tickets!!!! Probably 2 hour wait at least to enter. Ii got our Viator - pre purchased tickets at wine store 2 blocks away- real simple. In ticket line there was maybe 10 people. Was about 15-20 minutes wait. Worth it. Included audio tour which was good.
This seems on the face of it a weird thing to do.............however, as a Party we really enjoyed it and were glad we did it !!.....
I would skip the line as the wait time to get in seemed about 2 hours !!...........
One of the best tips during our touring of Paris. Skip the Line worked amazing - we picked up our tickets a short walk from the tour and then approached the entrance and were whisked right passed the 2 block line-up and into the catacombs.
The tour came with an audio guide which was very helpful in explaining the history of the catacombs and we really enjoyed taking in all the arrangements.
This was a really amazing experience. I'm very glad we got the audio tour, because we would have missed a lot without that. The only bummer thing was there were a few people who went down around the same time as us and, in my opinion, were a bit disrespectful taking selfies with the bones, laughing really loud and goofing off. This ruined the atmosphere a couple of times. However, people were spread out enough that we were able to either kinda get ahead of others or stay behind and let others move ahead of us in order to minimize those experiences. Overall, I loved this experience and would totally do it again.
Definitely buy the skip the line ticket. We went back several days in a row and even at 9 am the line was already hours long. With the skip the line ticket we waited maybe 30 seconds
A must do activity in Paris. Skipping the line was brilliant too, there were others queuing for hours. We picked our tickets up from the lovely lady in the wine store, she spoke no English but was still able to tell us to return after 3.30pm to collect them, and this turned out to be no problem as the area has a lovely market with lots of delicious food etc. Once inside the catacombs you are able to take as much time as you like to get through, the audio guide is very informative. Fascinating! Loved it.
The Paris Catacombs were absolutely breathtaking! It was even more than I hoped for. The experience of walking underneath Paris while being humbled by millions of skeletal remains was incredible! Skip the Line was so worth it! I just walked in and received my headset and away I went. Even better was the fact that I was alone for much of it, allowing me to truly absorb the atmosphere.
This tour is well worth your time and money when you are in Paris. A very interesting place that shows you what happened during a pivotal period of Paris's history and what they are still uncovering.
Loved the tour. The best part is being able to skip that huge line that wraps around the block!!
We've been to Paris before but we didn't have the chance then to visit the Catacombs and I would recommend this to everyone. The skip the Line line you do wait for a while but no where near as bad as you would have to wait on the regular line. The tour itself is great and very interesting. A must do when visiting Paris.
Interesting tour with a different spin on Paris - I enjoyed the history. Audio guide is good, and took us about an hour to complete. Be aware that the skip the line is skip the LONG line - we still had to wait about 45 min-1 hour to get in.
This is a really good slice of history. It is not for the very young because of potentially scary content and it is not for the very old or immobile because of the many steps, cramped conditions and uneven ground. However, high school students right up to the late middle-aged would find it interesting. My 13 year old son and I did a self guided version of the tour, with a thing like an old mobile phone which told interesting facts about the different parts of the catacombs. It is handy to get to- directly outside a metro station whose name escapes me now. Be aware that if you book tickets online they need to be picked up from somewhere other than the site, which can be tricky if your French is not up to scratch and you can't see a road sign. Ours needed to be collected from a wine shop across the road and around the corner. However, once collected I was very happy to be able to skip the very long queue snaking around the block!
Skip the line meant waiting 15 minutes, not 4 hours OMG, and in the cold and wind!!!. As to the experience, I expected a bit more. The tunnels were not all that fascinating and after 100 metres of bones and skulls, well...meh. Some interesting stories but I if I had waited in line like many did I would have been disappointed.
The tour of the catacombs is well worth the time. Also provides some history of Paris and the limestone quarries. And the 'skip the line' process worked well. HOWEVER, Viator failed badly in providing instructions on how and where to get tickets that would get us into the catacombs. Turns out your pre-printed voucher is worthless until you find the secret wine shop that turns it into a ticket acceptable to the catacombs ticket taker. The ticket individual told us to find a particular tobacco shop. Well, the tobacco shop was no longer doing it for Viator and directed us to a wine shop on another street. We finally got the tickets and got in but little thanks to Viator.
