We purchased this tour through Viator. Descriptions and information were spot-on. We met our guide, Josephine, at the well-described meeting point. We were the only party that arrived, so received a private tour!
Josephine was extremely well-informed and has a college degree in Art History. Her presentation and tour of the Louvre's construction were fascinating. She led us directly to the most-viewed attractions--such as Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, the Royal Crowns, and the Mona Lisa--without a stumble and through the crowds. Her observations were heartfelt and well-informed.
Josephine was interested in our areas of interest and sensitive to any physical limitations.
We loved this tour with Josephine--probably the highlight of our trip to Paris!
Highly Interesting, Rich History!
How can you visit Paris and not go the Louvre? Highly recommend a semi-private tour so that you can not only hear stories and details from a pro, but also move through the museum with a small enough group to see as much as possible. This place is huge and the amount on display is mind boggling. We saw the notable works, such as Venus de Milo. Inna, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to as we toured. October isn't as busy as the summer months but the skip-the-line is still a good idea. We ended up with a private tour since it wasn't busy.
Our guide Marwan I believe this is the spelling was absolutely phenomenal. I feel like I took a small Art History class just by walking around with him for 3 hours. Absolutely worth every penny to get such an insightful tour.
Good introduction for an enormous collection. The ticket is valid for the whole day, so book for Thu or Fri when the museum is open until late and you can come back and see the rest on your own.
The guide was very good, a small group made a lot of difference
Great tour! Our family of four including a twenty year old and a seventeen year old really enjoyed it. Our guide took us to the highlights I would have gotten lost and explained the background of the museum itself and the pieces of art with great enthusiasm. She happily answered all our questions about other things that caught our attention.
The perfect way to see the Louvre! It's so enormous, Sylvia I think that's her name... guided us to all the top sculptures and paintings and not only gave us the background of each piece, but the history of the Louvre as well. She was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of history, French Greek, Roman... We did not need headsets because there was only 5 of us and we could ask as many questions as we wanted. You can't beat having a personal guide in a museum of this magnitude!
