We were given the wrong address. Contacted by Jillian. Got there 15” late. Guide left without us. Could have left our vouchers at info desk but didn’t. Didn’t answer her phone. We want a refund!!!!!!!!
Absolutely worth it to do a small group, skip-the-line tour of the Louvre, especially for a first visit. We completely lucked out, as there were only the 2 of us, so we ended up with a private tour with our fabulous guide, Felix. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. Not only did we see the highlights (the things you need to see the first time like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Nike, etc.), but Felix provided terrific art history and historical background for each piece. The tour was about 2 hours and was very interactive; Felix always answered our questions. We stayed for approximately 2 more hours on our own to visit a few other wings before calling it a day there. Note: It is very crowded, and of course there are lots of people for the Mona Lisa. Just prep yourself for that, and you will be fine. Other galleries were not crowded, depending on where you went. Although it was not a hot day (late September), the Louvre inside was hot and humid, so wear layers so you won't get too overheated. Thank you, Felix, for a wonderful Louvre tour.
This was our second Memories DMC France tour. Both were great. This one was led by Caroline who had to wait a few minutes for us due to a RER train problem. First she asked us what we expected from the tour. Then she took us to get lunch avoiding long lines then to coat check. Everything was well thought out. Every room she took us to she explained why we were going and then showed us the inportance of a work of art by looking at its predecessor work. Wonderful way to understand things. From knowing our interests, she took us to the Napoleonic apartments and the Code of Hamerabi. Who knew.
I can't say enough positive things about this tour! My daughter and I were given a tour of the Louvre by Julian he was an amazing guide. He made sure we got to see all of the most famous works of art in the museum like the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. He pointed out many things we would have missed had we tried to view the museum on our own, and he led us skillfully through a very crowded museum. We never felt rushed and we never felt ignorant on our lack of knowledge about French history or the works of arts in the Lourve. I feel we learned more and saw more on this tour then we would have had we gone to the Louvre on our own for a full day. I would recommend booking a morning tour as you can stay in the museum as long as you'd like after the tour is over. We, however, had another commitment later in the day, so we couldn't stay much longer. Other great things about this tour is you do not have to wait in the extremely long line to purchase your own tickets, and there are places to eat in the museum, so you can go on the tour, have lunch, then stay longer and see more. Finally, Julian was truly a wonderful, knowledgeable guide.
This tour made our visit, I fully recommend you book it.
Herve' was so knowledgeable and pleasant to be with, we learnt and saw so much more by being with him.
He led us through the queues with minimal delay and guided us to all the important works, many of which I was not aware of.
If you want to reduce the stress and enjoy the visit to The Louvre use this tour.
A real highlight of our time in Paris! Was really intimidated at the thought of tackling the Louvre on our own so really glad we booked this small group tour. Herve, our guide, was incredible - so much knowledge of the art, artistic movements and their historic context, and the Louvre itself. Herve is so very passionate about the topics he covers - he truly engages you throughout the tour. With so much to see, the tour is beautifully designed to focus on a few major pieces in each area while allowing enough time time so you don't feel rushed. With the small-group tour you basically have a personal tour guide you can easily hear and engage with and who adapts to any mobility issues in the group. If you only have a few hours to visit the Louvre, I can't think of a better way than this tour.
THE BEST!!!!! Caroline our tour guide was absolutely fantastic!!! I had been to the Louvre on a previous visit to Paris and found it so overwhelming it was hard to enjoy. Caroline was full of information, she truly made for an exceptional visit to the Louvre, it was the
highlight of our trip.
