What You Can Expect

After hotel pickup, your private tour begins at your first stop, the P. Ramlee House. The former home of a Malay entertainment icon—a singer, director, actor, songwriter, producer and composer—the house is now a museum that honors his impressive career in the country’s music and film industries. Inside the house, built in 1926, admire memorabilia, personal items, photographs and more.

Continue your tour to the stately Teh Bunga Melayu Gallery in George Town to see a collection of cultural artifacts, and then visit the Acheen Street Mosque (or Masjid Lebuh Acheh), the oldest mosque located in the heritage district of George Town, founded in 1801 by an Acehnese clan leader who moved to Penang at the request of Captain Francis Light, who founded the British settlement at George Town. Take note of the Arab-style minaret with an Acehnese roof.

Next, discover the Malay traditional handicraft of batik, a textile art known for motifs of leaves and flowers, as well as butterfly themes. If you see something that catches your eye, purchase it as a gift or souvenir. You’ll also have time for shopping local goods before your tour ends.
