What You Can Expect

Begin your day trip with hotel pickup in Perth. Meet your driver-guide and group of no more than four passengers, and hop inside your climate-controlled Hummer 4WD.

Then, enjoy the views as you follow the new Indian Ocean Drive road north toward the Pinnacles Desert of Nambung National Park. Enjoy glimpses of the Indian Ocean on route, and hear fascinating facts about the Pinnacles’ spires, one of Australia’s most mysterious landscapes, from your guide.

Be among the first visitors of the day to arrive at the Pinnacles, and admire the thousands of spires rising from the desert sands. Take a walk among them to see how some resemble human and animal forms, such as dolphins, elephants, and even Batman, and ride the Hummer along a 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) circuit that takes you through and around the lunar-like landscapes.

Having explored here, drive north to Cervantes and visit Lake Thetis, a natural lake that’s home of stromatolites: living fossils formed from microbials through the millennia.

Next, head to Thirsty Bay, a stunning, wide curve of coastline lined by a white sandy beach and the turquoise Indian Ocean. Absorb the spectacular panoramas here, and pass through the fishing town of Seabird before driving off-road along the beautiful coastline.

After 45 minutes, join the road again, and stop in Guilderton for a delicious barbecue lunch, including fresh local seafood, beside the mouth of the Moore River.

Duly refreshed, drive south through cattle, sheep, and goat farming regions toward the Swan Valley and Caversham Wildlife Park. Meet some of the park’s wildlife, including koalas and kangaroos, and if time permits, enjoy a wine-tasting at the historical Sandalford Winery.

Receive a DVD of your day before your trip concludes with a hotel drop-off at about 5:30pm.

My tour with Terry was absolutely fabulous and exactly as described. He was punctual , personable and informative. The tour was perfectly put together to get the most of the western coast and Australian wildlife encounters in one day. It was just me and my teenage daughter and our guide made us feel safe and comfortable so much so that by the end of the trip, I was left feeling as if I have known Terry for years not just hours. Each stop was enough time to thoroughly enjoy the individual site and our stop for lunch made us feel like the locals and not just tourists. There was so much to do but we never felt rushed. You won't regret picking this tour on your trip to Western Australia!

An exciting adventure off-roading along the coast, beautiful scenery and lots of opportunity for photographs and to enjoy the sights :) Perfect day out, thank you!

The tour was so fun though the weather was not so good...the driver drove us to a lot of places and told me some stories about Australia. Visiting Perth was the first time for us but we really had a great time and appreciate everything! :)
