My fiancé and I spent three days/two nights with this company. We were in a group with three other travellers, and our group of five had the same two guides for our trip - Frank and Ernan. There were other groups moving through the lodge at the same time, most seemed to have similar itineraries to ours.

During our time, we did two jungle walks, one near the lodge and the other in the reserve. We did a night walk to see insects, frogs and snakes, a river trip at sunset to see and swim with well, within sight of river dolphins, a piranha fishing trip, and a night river trip to see caimans. A dawn bird watching trip was planned, but was rained off the first morning and delayed due to rain the second so dawn chorus was over by the time we got out - no fault of the lodge!

Meals were good with plenty of excellent food, mostly chicken and catfish with rice, salad and fried plantain. There was always fresh fruit and juice with most meals. There was a fresh water dispenser in the dining area, you should bring your own bottles to refill for trips as water isn't provided while out and about. Beds were comfortable with decent mosquito nets, and each couple got a room to themselves.

The guides were very good. Frank spoke great English, and knew a lot about local plants in particular, and Ernan was excellent at spotting wildlife, although he didn't speak English. We saw dolphins, sloths, scarlet macaws, a river otter, loads of kingfishers and parakeets, tamarinds, bullfrogs and massive spiders. The group after us on the night tour saw a 1.5m boa constrictor- obviously what you see can't be guaranteed.

This would have been five star other than some small issues - the roof above my fiancé's bed leaked the first night, although was fine the second, and the mosquito nets in the dining room did have large holes in them, meaning the only safe place from mozzies was your bed! This is not a luxury trip - if you want one of those, you need to pay more.

Definitely shop around and ensure what your guides will be providing. We paid $1300 to live like we were homelss for 3 days. It was very clear that the guides shorted us in order to pocket more profit. We ate nothing bu rice and stewed tomatoes for 3 days w/ only water available 3 times a day.

The guide took us to one of the villages and we sat outside a bar waiting while he sat drinking and watching the Peru national games. It definately did not live up their end of the bargain on what they were supposed to provide. it really sucked so carefully shop and ensure what you're getting
