Philadelphia Segway Tour

Philadelphia Segway Tour

Why ride when you can glide? Riding on a Segway isn’t rocket science, but it’s important to know how to maneuver one, especially gliding around a large metropolitan area like downtown Philly. So this tour begins with a brief but thorough training session to make sure everyone feels comfortable and knowledgeable about their Segway. Additionally, all passengers must weight between 99 and 300lbs (44 and 136kg) to participate.

With the training out of the way, it’s time to hit the open road.On the 1-hour Segway tour around Philadelphia, cruise a loop from the Historic District and Penn’s Landing to the Delaware River and South Street neighborhoods. Check out over 15 attractions, like the historic First Bank of the United States, the 9th Street Italian Market — the oldest and largest outdoor market in the United States — the folk art environs of the Magic Gardens and the various churches attended by William Penn, where the Quaker leader (who fought against religious oppression) practised what he preached.

On the 2-hour Segway tour, continue along the loop, passing by Elfreth's Alley, America's oldest continuously inhabited residential street, and the Betsy Ross House, believed to be the very site where the the first American Flag was sewn. Glide by Independence Hall, birthplace of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the magnificent homes of Society Hill.

Continue on to the Avenue of the Arts, Rittenhouse Square and Fitler Square before traveling along the Schuylkill River to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the famous stairs from the movie Rocky. Finally, it’s off to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Rodin Museum before winding through some of the city’s back streets, en route to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Chinatown, where the tour comes to an end.

Absolutely loved it. We saw more on our trip with Owen than we did the next day on a very pricey bus tour. Take the Segway. It was fabulous! Owen was a great informative guide.

Our guide Barry did an amazing job teaching us how to use and be comfortable on the Segways, which is what we older folks needed, and once we were off he gave us plenty of reassurances, as well as the tour. We all agreed this was AMAZING!!

We had a fantastic experience on this tour. The tour guide was very knowledgable about Philadelphia and had a good sense of humour. We had the added benefit of a very small group only four of us all of whom were accomplished Segway riders so we were able to get straight to it after the briefing. Our stop at a cafe for morning tea was great opportunity to get to know our fellow group members a little better.

Our guide Mike was knowledgeable, flexible and funny. He made me feel safe while having an excellent time. I learned much more about Philadelphia - history through the present - than I thought I would. If I can, I will take this trip again.

I enjoyed being trained on using the Seagway before the tour. I also enjoyed learning the history of the sites and being outside in the great weather. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the City of Brotherly Love.

What a fun way to sightsee !! This was a 1st time experience for us and we found using the Segways easy to learn and a great way to cover a lot of territory 10 miles in 2 hours! along with excellent
guidance and information from Mike. Not only did he navigate us safely on city streets and around parked vehicles and potholes, but his knowledge of Philadelphia was quite good and interestingly presented. We can't wait for our next Segway opportunity!

Awesome! It is over 10 miles of narrated touring of Philly. Mike made sure everyone was comfortable on their Segway before we started our tour. We stop and get off once during the 2 hour tour. You have several stops that you are standing on your Segway while Mike explains the sights of the city. Definitely fun and Mike was entertaining as well.
