Good tour around the island with interesting stops, comfortable bus
Hands down one of the best excursions I've ever been on! We had the Mailman as our tour guide and he was FANTASTIC. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the area. Answered any and all questions. Made pit stops along the way for pictures, etc. Had beverages on board for everybody and had a selection beer, soda, water, etc. Could not have asked for a better experience. If you're even remotely thinking about taking this tour - don't hesitate - just book it! I promise it'll be worth it!
Our tour guide, the mailman was great, very informative, funny, tour well worth the money. Be careful of the drinks at orient beach! Very tasty, potent, they sneak up on you. Would do this again, minus the drinks, I slept thru the tail end of tour!!!
David was our driver and he was very knowledgeable about not only the island but also the history behind it too. Went to two different beaches as well as a couple stops in between.
This trip was good but maybe a little long at least for little kids. The island itself is a bit boring with not a lot to see. I dont think next time I would take a tour here. This maybe a good ship day. However the tour itself was great. We got off the ship and easily found the meeting place. We then got into a nice van with DJ our driver and tour guild. There was only one other family with us so a total of 11 plus DJ. There were sodas and rum punch available. We stopped at a few locations for pictures. We then came to a beautiful place with huge waves and giant boulders. A local gentleman there has a little table set out with sea urchins, sea stars and the like that you can hold. Yes, they are alive. He also was very knowledgeable about them. We then went to the best part of the day, a place with no kidding like 300 iguanas. DJ helped the kids feed them. Note the iguana farm has closed down but this was very entertaining. We then went to a beach which was nice but the waves were pretty hard and the wind was strong. Lovely though. We got lunch in Marigot but being it was a Sunday and raining there were not many vendors in the market. The service was slow and the food was ok. We then headed back to the ship. DJ was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the island. I think this is a good trip for perhaps families with older kids as it is a long day in a vehicle. DJ and the company however were great.
The Mailman was an excellent tour guide. He changed the order of stops so that we could watch the 747 land at the airport. He was informative, funny, and considerate . Saw both sides of the island.
We really enjoyed our tour of St Maarten with the Mailman! He is very nice and knowledgeable of the country. His rum punch tastes really good, too. Since we were on a cruise, our time in St Maarten was short but we were able to do a lot of different things with this tour. I highly recommend doing this tour. Please note that to get to the tour bus, you need to walk further out of the dockyard to find the white tent. It took us sometime to figure out where to find it. Luckily the Mailman waited for us.
We have been on a 10 day carribean tour of 5 islands and this tour was the best of them all. I would recomend Bernard tours to anyone and the 747 taking off from the beach was the highlight.
We had previously done a cruise tour of St. Maarten, and Viator's tour was significantly better, a smaller number of people, and all for a lower cost. Our driver/guide -- DJ -- was entertaining while still informative, and certainly added to our complete satisfaction with Viator.
Mailman was an awesome tour guide. We had a great day - fun at the beach, learned about the French St Martin and Dutch St Maarten, had a great lunch at a French Patisserie and had an awesome time at Princess Juliana Airport from the end of the runway....just breathtaking. We were late getting off our cruise ship but the tour went off perfectly. The highlight was definitely standing at the end of the runway on the beach with the aircraft flying just metres above our heads. Thanks Mailman, you even told us where to stand to get the best experience and pictures. An awesome tour.
We very much enjoyed our visit to St. Maarten. We didn't have a lot of time as we came off a cruise ship but we got a great look at the Island. We came away with a good feel for its atmosphere, people and geography. Daniel, our driver and guide, was delightful. He was very knowledgeable, open and very kind. We enjoyed spending time with him. All in all, it was an excellent excursion from start to finish. The check-in crew were also very kind and courteous.

St Maarten was our final stop on our Southern Caribbean cruise with Carnival. This was by far the best island visited out of the other 5. Our driver/guide Mailman was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. This was a long tour with many exciting inclusions... well worth the money. Unfortunately Mailman had advised that the Iguana Farm was now closed, however he was kind enough to pull over at another location on the side of the road, and there were about 30 iguanas running all around! Another fun and educational highlight was the visit with a local man who demonstrated the different sea creatures. We got to hold some sea urchins and sea stars. This was very interesting. Mailman also showed us a great part of Orient Beach, where we were given drink vouchers for Rum Punch by the way, Mailman's Rum Punch is EXCELLENT!, and we also had a chance to enjoy some local beer. The visit to the market was also lovely, and we enjoyed some fresh baked croissants at one of the shops. All the locals are very friendly and accommodating. The highlight of this tour was definitely the visit to Princess Juliana Airport/Maho Beach. It is so amazing to literally stand under the large planes as they fly over your head. This was definitely a unique experience. I cannot wait to visit St Maarten again in the near future!! This tour is highly recommended. I am hoping to visit again for an entire week, instead of just one stop on a cruise. Thank you again Mailman!!
Tour was very good. Our guide, Sexy, was very nice and helpful. Especially enjoyed the stops to interact with sea critters and lizards. We sat in the back of the van and it was very hard to hear and/or understand the guide when the air conditioner was on. Other than that, the trip was great!!
The meeting point was a little difficult to find but the trip itself was excellent. Our guide, Sexy, was informative and helpful. We wished we had a little more time at Orient beach but was happy to arrive back at port 1 1/2 hours before ship departure.
Nice overview of the island. Couldn't believe the number of people who camp out to watch planes landing. But it was better than the nude beach for action!
Junior was our driver. Very accommodating, but spoke too fast, -hard to understand. I would have preferred to get more factual data on the island. There were tidbits here and there, but not really comprehensive, with historical, stuff. The bus had no bathroom, and there was no Wi-Fi. This could have enhanced the trip somewhat. This was less expensive than what NCL was offering, and probably just as comprehensive., Sincerely, Kathy
We were a little disappointed in this tour, perhaps in part because of our own expectations. We did enjoy Maho Beach and watching the 747 land and another jet take off. We would have liked more time in the French section to shop and eat and less time at Orient Beach. Also didn't understand the 10 charge for 2 beach chairs, 2 drinks and wifi. We didn't even have to pay for the chairs as they were readily available, there was no working wifi, and the drinks consisted of 2 ounces of a fruity drink. We felt that was a little deceptive. David was knowledgable and did make sure we were comfortable and took good care of us. There were lots of cold beverages in the nicely air conditioned van which was a huge plus.
Booked a private tour with drinks included but ended up on a shared, non air-conditioned truck which was very uncomfortable. Guide/driver didn';t stop for photo ops. More like a self-guided tour. Very different from the one advertised.
