After morning pickup in Phoenix, relax in a climate-controlled van as you drive through the scenic Sonoran Desert to Sedona.
Your knowledgeable guide shares informative commentary about the region as you admire the stunning landscape of Arizona’s red rock country. Learn about the history, geology and wildlife, and see prime specimens of towering saguaro cactus and amazing rock formations.
Visit landmarks such as Oak Creek Canyon, considered one of the most stunning canyons in Arizona; stop at the massive hulk of Bell Rock; enjoy great views of West Sedona from Airport Mesa. Stop for a look around Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1956 and recognized for its architecture. Constructed on a 250-foot (76-meter) tower of red rock, the chapel’s interior is illuminated by a towering window that frames the desert like a painting.
Head into downtown Sedona with your guide and have three hours to check out the shops, art galleries and stop into a restaurant for lunch (own expense). Hear more about Sedona’s past and present-day attractions from your guide, and find out which TV shows and movies have been filmed there. You’ll also take a 90-minute Jeep tour that shows you more highlights.
At the end of your tour, your guide returns you to your Phoenix hotel in the late afternoon. It takes about two hours to drive between Phoenix and Sedona. You’ll stop regularly to walk around and get great photo ops throughout the day.
