Great trip! Small van/bus with about 18 people. Guide was fantastic. We all loved it!!
Amazing tour! Especially our tour guide victor was awesome! Loads of background information and a really nice service!
Great tour guide who explained history etc very well and kept a good humor also.
The tour was great, the guide was really knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommended.
Beautiful excursion. Well organized: Cenote, maya lunch and chichen itza in the same day. Places wonderful, guide very prepared, transport by van and bus perfect!
Tour was amazing and totally worth it. A van picked us up near our hotel in Playa del Carmen then an hour trip to Cancun then several more hours to Chichen Itza. Our first stop was a souvenir shop then to Cenote Ik-Kil in Yucatan, 130 feet deep, 85 feet wide. After that we went to a buffet lunch close by then headed to Chichen Itza. We spent about 2 hours, mostly with our tour guide, who was very knowledgeable and has direct roots to the area so he knew the history. Despite the 12 hour day trip and spending half of it in the van/bus, seeing the historical ruins/pyramids were a once in a lifetime experience! I highly recommend it.
Great trip! Antonio was an excellent guide who had a genuine passion for the history of the native Mayan and Chichen Itza. The transportation was on time and comfortable for the most part, but they are made for short people and do not offer much leg room I am only 5'7. The stop at the cenote was my favorite part. Beautiful and refreshing. I wish I could have stayed there all day! The food at the lunch stop was a bit bland, but our guide warned us of this beforehand they want to accommodate tourists' palettes, and told us to ask the server for the authentic pepper sauce habanero if we want some real spice.
Be sure to bring cash and small bills for tips and shopping, esp. in Chichen Itza. Be sure to bargain with the vendors in Chichen Itza, because they will always reduce the price. Bring a hat and sunscreen for Chichen Itza, because there is a lot of walking and little shade.
THIS WAS THE BEST TRIP EVER. THE INSTRUCTOR WAS AWESOME. HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT CHICHEN ITZA. HE WAS HUMOROUS TOO. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TOUR TO ANYBODY. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.
this tour was well worth the very long day. for us from our hotel in plya del carmen it was aprox 7a-8p. our driver was good, our tour guide was great he was very informative and also great on info for gifts and food. also the cenote part of the tour was awinspiring a big hole in the ground and at the bottom water. our lunch buffet also include was good and we also got entertainment while we ate.the ruins were fantastic.
This tour was overall pleasant. We rode on a new bus with a/c, had a guide talking about Mayan History on the
microphone on the way to Chichen. An English speaking guide took us to the main buildings and it was very informative. We stopped for a swim in a beautiful cenote, and had typical Mex lunch.
We had a good time the guide was excellent. The buffet lunch was good. The bus was comfortable and clean.
We had such a great day to Chichen Itza. Our tour guide Guadalupe was awesome. She speaks 4 languages for starters and is very well informed. The other guide (sorry his name slips my mind) was also great. Overall great time. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience. When booking I called Viator and spoke with Maria, she was extremely helpful in getting us picked up from the hotel. The tour guide was very nice and funny. The Cenote was amazing and refreshing, I would suggest that Viator do the Cenote prior. The Ruins where awesome!
This tour was great, the guides Martin and Christian were so knowledgeable about the Mayans and Chichen Itza!
It just seemed a little unnecessary to go to this tourist shop on the way, I would have liked to have spent a little more time wondering around Chichen Itza and also at the Cenote the things we actually wanted to do seemed a little rushed! Other than that, a fantastic tour.
The tour itself was well organised interesting and informative, the only downside was standing in one spot for an hour and 25 minutes in the open heat and humidity while our, very knowledgeable, tour guide explained the history and significance of the site. This would be better as a and #39;walk and talk and #39;
No hay que perderse la visita a esta maravilla, hay que ir preparado con gorra y bloqueador.
Fun and informative. The tour guide was excellent.I just wish we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel instead of making a separate trip.
Our guides were amazing ! Loved the cenote swim and chichen itza as well! Totally worth the day trip. Got a little worried when the pickup was a 1/2 hr late but he found us! Lovely time!
Visited main site of Chichen Itza
Worth doing - Tour guide knowledeable
Chichen Itza was beautiful and we would definitely recommend a trip out there to anyone nearby. However, we did not enjoy a large part of this particular tour. We were very interested in learning about the culture and history of this site and our guide's English left a lot to be desired. He would speak in Spanish then English and sometimes not in English at all. Even with my conversational Spanish, it was very difficult to understand and we felt we missed what we had been most excited about. Also, bring snacks as the lunch served was very poor.
Let's be clear : there is nothing wrong about Chichen Itza. It is a wonderful site that is absolutly worth your time. And I really liked the Cenote as well.
However I am disappointed with the organization of the tour itself.
First of all the title is wrong. It is not a trip "from Playa del Carmen". You are picked up in Playa del Carmen, and then taken to Cancun where the actual tour leaves from. So you already lose time.
Then after a long drive we make a stop on the highway for "bathroom time" (which was disgusting by the way). Fine... except the real purpose of this stop was actually to bring us to a massive souvenir shop. Serously ? This kind of tourist traps still exist ?
But the worst is that they continued to try and sell us things inside the bus : a maya calendar with your name and birthdate, then a bottle of tequila with your picture on it. I don't like when tourists are taken for cash machines and I didn't expected that from a tour booked on Viator.
We then stopped at the Cenote for about an hour, and at the restaurant (a factory for groups) where we were asked for a tip for service, a tip for the (limited) dancing show etc...
And finally around 3 PM we finally arrived at Chichen Itza (we had left Playa del Carmen at 7:30).
The vist was good, and I enjoyed our guide (Angelo in portuguese).
However so much time lost for nothing ! And on the way back were all freezing in the bus because of the AC... i was really hoping for this ride to get to an end !
