Explore an ancient Maya city surrounded by thick jungle on a full-day tour to Coba, then visit a Maya community and swim in a fresh-water cenote. This full-day Coba tour includes entrance fees and a guided tour of the archeological site, a hearty buffet lunch, and round-trip transport from selected hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
  • Visit the Maya city of Coba
  • Climb the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan
  • Buffet lunch of Mexican cuisine included
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off included
Meet a driver at your hotel, then begin the trip from Cancun or the Riviera Maya to Coba, a sprawling site that was once a city of 50,000 people. Pickups begin at 7am, and the operator will contact you with your precise departure time (if your hotel is not centrally-located, the operator will confirm the pickup point that’s closest to you).

Upon arrival in Coba, join a guide for a trip into Maya history, following sac bé, or “white roads” to structures that are still partially hung with jungle foliage. Climb to the top of Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula—you’ll earn amazing views across the treetops. As you explore the guide will share what’s known about the ancient Maya people, who thrived in a vast area prior to the arrival of Europeans.

Following your time at Coba, visit a nearby Maya community for a glimpse of modern-day indigenous culture in the Yucatán, with the chance to buy unique, handcrafted souvenirs. Pause for a buffet-style lunch of Mexican foods, then head to a cenote for a cooling swim in an underground, fresh-water river.

Tour company added Tulum along with Coba. Having been to Tulum over 10 years ago, I looked forward to the re-visit. WHAT A HORROR!! Previously you drove up on the beach. Walked up the hill and there were the ruins. Now, the buses go to their parking areas. You are met with a DISGUSTING sight. The Mexican government has built all souvenir shops before you see the ruins. But, it gets even better! There are scantily clad men, apparently dressed as Mayans. One was busy playing with this long white snake which was available for pictures. You are then rushed into one of these souvenir shops to have a Mayan do a calendar for you. Only 45usd! Back to the line where you have to wait for an open-air tram. Miguel and Minita mouse were not available. As we boarded the tram, Donald Duck and Pluto were off that day. The ruins were nice. Getting off the tram, there was a man with a monkey who you could gladly pet or pose for a picture for a fee. It was hot, so you could go to the bar for a cerveza or cafe Thankfully, I had very nice memories of my first visit!!!!!! We then went to Coba. Our tour guide showed us some of the closer ruins. The main temple was a mile away. You had a choice: bike, walk, or have a ride in the tricycle propelled by a young worker. The temple was awesome. A rope stretched down from the top so people who dared climb it could safeguard themselves should they lose their balance. Coba is worth seeing. The commercialism at Tulum is nauseating.

This a great trip - well worth the time, energy , and cost. Carlos was our guide - very education. detailed information with hands on experiences. Hands down - the ruins of Coba were the best part of the trip. Glad we had the complimentary experiences but not necessary to enhance the trip. Thank you Carlos for a truly great experience
