Overview

Spend the day roaming the archaeological site of Tulum. A certified guide explains the elements of  El Castillo and the Temple of the Frescoes, among other preserved ruins of the ancient city nestled on a bluff above the Caribbean Sea. Afterward, swim in a cenote just steps from the beach. Bottled water, a cold towel, and snack are all included along with hotel pickup and drop-off in Playa del Carmen.
  • See Tulum archaeological ruins with a certified guide
  • Dip into a cenote and swim in the Caribbean Sea
  • Entrance fees and transport by air-conditioned coach
  • Bottled water, juice, granola bar, and cold towel
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Playa del Carmen
Depart Playa del Carmen with pickup from your centrally located hotel by coach and relax on the 1-hour drive south to Tulum. Situated on a coast-side cliff, this popular archaeological site served as an ancient trading post on the Yucatán Peninsula. On arrival, access the site via its ancient gates and tour the grounds with your certified guide, who shares knowledge about one of the last cities constructed and inhabited by the Mayas.

Wander past numerous well-preserved ruins along the pathways, and get a look at remarkable structures such as El Castillo (The Castle), Temple of the Frescoes, and Temple of the Descending God. Learn about the Spanish conquest and the reasons for the site's abandonment. Photo ops abound with plenty of glimpses of the shimmering, turquoise Caribbean Sea.

Before returning by coach to your starting point, take the opportunity for a swim in the salty waters of the sea. A white-sand beach at the foot of the bluff is easily accessed, and you can take a dip into an open cenote close to Xcacel beach (entry fee included).
