You get a lot for a great price!! David was our guide, he was nice and very knowledgeable. I loved that we were able to ride bikes to each location, and the cenote was absolutely beautiful! Made for a pretty early morning, but it's worth it to get there before the heat and the crowds.

Very nice day, our guide Alvaro is a wealth of information on the history of the area and the culture of the Mayan's...And the bus driver was great. The lunch provided was at a restaurant nearby and featured many delicious authentic Mexican dishes. We appreciated being picked up in front of our hotel and dropped off as such. Be sure to dress for warm weather and wear some comfortable walking/hiking shoes, as you will want to climb the ruins for the spectacular view from above. Also, swimwear for the underground Cenote For the price, this would be a tour to book!

We were picked up on time. This was one of the best trips we have ever done. Normally we are people who like to be independent and go to places alone but the draw of the archaeologist made us book this trip. Our guide from Amigo Tours was Alvarro. He's a great guy and very knowledgable. We would not have learnt what we did without him. It was an amazing sight. You can still walk up the pyramid but we didn't. The descent looked too scary for me! The whole sight is fantastic and we are so pleased we booked this trip. Great also to swim in a cenoteh. If you are planning a trip consider this one.

This tour to Coba was outstanding Value! Pick up place was close to our location and was on time....very very efficient and friendly staff and drivers....the trip to Coba was comfy in the van and Sarah, our guide was efficient in English and Spanish and addressed all tour passengers politely and effectively. She was very knowledgeable and a very patient and pleasant guide. Everything was addressed and ran in time. We got to see Coba for over two hours...remember the walk to the largest and tallest temple bldg is 2km so do take advantage of a bike or pedi- cab , ,these were included in the tour cost! Extremely cool.and enjoyable visit to the Cenote Tankach-Ha ...the best cave swimming yet! Crystal blue clear waters, good change area with shower and bathrooms.....very Important in Mexico for s cenote was not busy as we took the early morning Coba tour....steps down into the cave cenote have a handrail but remember these are slippery..diving platforms at different levels...beautiful water and cave. Do take your camera!! One good hour there then off to lunch...extremely clean and very pleasant lu cheon...lots to chose from in the buffet...really fresh and good local,foods....the only extras are drinks and they were very reasonable. As in 25 pesos for water and lemonade and 40foe beer...just remember to tip these very pleasant, clean and helpful servers.....nice touristy shop there as well, bit expensive but one of a kind rocks and jewelry creations......no,pressure to buy anything or order more drinks...wonderful. We had a fabulous day, its a 90km triomthat went fast...we left at 7 am and back home in Playa by 4pm....bathroom stops along the way and at each venue.....awesome...you MUST go on this tour with Viator to see the real Mexico....enjoy

It is always a challenge with trips like these to get everyone on the bus at the right time! Make sure you know where to meet and arrive early - that is expected. The guide handled it very well and had taxis bring the other guests to meet our bus to stay on schedule. Coba ruins were spectacular and at this time in the morning we had space to enjoy. Take your time climbing - the view is amazing. Bring a towel for the cenote swim and do go in - the water is lovely and warmer than the ocean! The guide was very good, knowledgeable and patient. This is well worth the effort and cost to have a really memorable experience. Well done Amigo tours!!

This was a great tour and well worth the money. Our tour was through Amigo Tours and our guide, Alvarro, was very good indeed. The whole trip was very well organised and it was definitely worth getting to Coba early and the use of the bikes, included in the price, added to the fun. Lunch was OK and the cenote was great and very deep!. The only problem we had was with communicating with Amigo Tours. I sent 2 emails and got no initial reply. Using the supplied phone numbers proved difficult and in the end the Concierge from the hotel managed to get hold of them for me. Amigo Tours did eventually send and email late evening of the day before the tour! So, for the tour itself a 5, but for the pre tour communication a 1. Don't be put off doing the tour, just be prepared to spend a bit of time sorting out the pick up time and place.

This was the best excursion ever with an absolutely fantastic price!
Our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the ruins.
The only issue we had was trying to contact the tour company to confirm our pick-up time at our resort.
In the end I just ended up phoning viator customer service and they did a three way conversation with the tour company so everything got sorted out in the end. It was very difficult to phone a Mexico number while in Mexico if you don't speak the language. Viator customer service representative was excellent. I would recommend this company and the tour to everyone.

This is a MUST SEE tour, and I highly recommend Cesar as the Tour Guide. He was excellent, speaks 3 languages and very knowledgable about the Mayan culture. My friend and I, both in our mid 70's, did the tour today, 1/23,17. It couldn't have been a more perfect day temp wise. We chose the Mexican Limosine and am so glad we did. We both climbed to the top of the pyramid - 120 very rough steps - and so worth it. The view from the top is spectacular. There were 12 of us in this tour group 6 Spanish speaking and 6 English speaking. We all got along very well and I am so glad I met them. I encourage you go on this tour. I think you will be very glad you did. I recommend you take a selfie stick so you can take great pictures, especially from the top. The Cenote was very refreshing and I suggest you wear flip flops or water shoes to get down to it. There is some gravel and such from the changing rooms to the stairs going down to the water. The lunch was totally delicious with several foods I was unfamiliar with but enjoyed very much. This has been a perfect day.

Very good tour, a must-do if you like Mayan Ruins. I want to mention the incredible work and knowledge of our tour guide MARCO. He is without a doubt, the best tour guide to have around if you do these kind of tours. His english is perfect and he had so much interesting facts and informations to share with us about the ruins, the mayas, the civilization... i've learned so much during this tour. Once again, Marco, remember this name, if you're lucky enough to have him as your guide, you're gonna have a wonderful experience. 10 on 10

Martin and Marco from Amigo Tours were highly knowledgeable. The tour included pick up from hotel, bike rides between the ruins, lunch and cenote visit. Remember to ask about life jackets for the cenote. The guide did not mention the life jackets prior to cenote visit. Cenote is very deep and somewhat dim. The lunch buffet was delicious! They did a very good job of keeping us on track and we squeezed in a lot of activities. highly recommended!!

Collected from RIU Playacar at 6.50am by a minibus and taken to a filling station were we met other travellers, we then travelled to Coba, we arrived early enough and had a trouble free entry and given an in-depth commentary by the guide, we were then offered push bikes but we took the offer of been pedaled by a local lad for 100, and when the others caught up I believe we made the right decision,, hot and humid and pedalling bikes! we were then given the opportunity to climb the pyramid which I took which resulted in my leg muscles taking 3 days to recover!, please bear in mind it is HOT, then off to a restaurant, drinks were charged as extra, then off to a ceynote, overall a very good trip.

Another great excursion!! Our driver for the day was helpful and very friendly. The ruins were breathtaking and the view from up top is great. Beware of getting down, a bit tricky with the smooth rocks. Definitely get there before the crowds to avoid the congestion going up and down.

Wonderful trip! We were picked up on time, taken to the ruins, rode bikes which was a blast!, walked the ruins - also exciting, took a dip in a deep cenote and enjoyed an authentic Mexican lunch. Our tour guide was very informed and helpful. We had two elderly family members as part of our group. They used the rickshaw option to transport them around the ruins. This is an extra 4 for two plus a generous tip. The guide and driver were extremely patient and cooperative in tending to our family members' special needs.
As mentioned in other reviews - wait for a confirmation email the night before that will confirm pick up time. Bring some extra bottled water. They do stop at a store on the way for a bathroom break and there is water for sale at the Cenote.
This is a great excursion for a wonderful price. You won't be disappointed!

This tour was exactly what we were looking for during our vacation in Playa del Carmen. We wanted a chance to tour Mayan ruins, but didn't want to give up a ton of beach time while we were away from our resort. The tour picked us up at 7am and we were back by 2pm! Never did we feel rushed, and since we only had one other person with us, we could go at our own pace. Climbing Coba was an experience I'll never forget, and you get the opportunity to learn so much history from the archeologist! I was unsure about the cenote swim- but ended up loving it! Even if you aren't a big swimmer, go down into the cenote just to see the views- amazing! The authentic Mexican lunch was very good, too! The only downside we had was that our driver did not speak any English, but he was very resourceful using his phone translator, calling another driver over speaker phone in order to communicate when needed. All our other tour guides in Coba spoke perfect English! Highly recommend this excursion!

Awesome tour. Our Archaeologist, Alberto, was very knowledgeable and interesting. All costs were included, lunch, entrance fees, rickshaw bicycles. Alberto spoke on the history of the Mayan culture as we travelled to the Coba Ruins. It was great being able to climb the ruins before people from the 5 buses did.
Please note....we found out that does not pickup at the lobby of our hotel Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda. There was confusion on whether pickup was at the lobby or gate. We mentioned this to the front desk and valet attendant. The driver, Israel, and Alberto were good enough to contact the hotel when we were not at the gate and then waited for us to walk out.

We booked the early morning Coba tour with Viator which contracted with -our group was led by archaeologist guide Marco and driver Julio. They were outstanding in every way. We stayed one step ahead of the crowd all day by biking between the different sites at Coba. The cost of the bikes was included in this tour. Marco was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and welcomed questions. He provided great information in a way that engaged the entire group including our youngest son, aged 7. He and the entire group was patient with our slower pace with the 3 kids, but still managed to keep us on schedule and ahead of the crowd. Climbing the pyramid was an amazing experience that we will never forget and the views were breathtaking. After Coba, our group went to a nearby cenote for a quick swim. There were changing rooms and showers to wash off the bug spray before going in the water. The water was clear and cold and very deep--there were two high platforms to jump from that the kids loved. Right after we finished, a huge group arrived while we had the cenote largely to ourselves. We then had a buffet lunch at a Ki-Janal, a restaurant right near the front gates of Coba. The food was authentic Mayan, and quite good. The staff was also amazingly kind to our sons who daringly and foolishly took bites of hot peppers--they provided all sorts of natural remedies--the limes with salt seemed to do the trick. A very worthwhile trip.

AMAZING!!!! Alfredo was knowledgable and patient with all of the people on the tour. It was a small group - so we got time to spend looking around the ruins, climbing the pyramid and of course photographing them. He gave us the option of the bicycle taxi as well. We did not take advantage of swimming in the cenote - but did go down to see it and watch the others swim. The buffet lunch was authentic and very good. Israel, the driver was the best one yet!!!

if you want to see Coba the right way - book this tour!!!

This was a fantastic tour and well worth it. One word of warning- Your first confirmation email will list a 6.30am pick up time. Check your email the day before the tour as they will give you an updated pick up time once they know the locations and number of people in your tour. I didn't realize that, so we waited over an hour in the lobby for pick up. Not the fault of the tour provider at all. There was a driver and a separate tour guide in the van, so he spent a large portion of the drive telling us about Coba, the Mayan civilization and the Yucatan. It was complete with visual aids and very interesting and informative.

We were some of the first people to arrive at Coba, so we enjoyed quiet biking through the jungle on the Mayan roads. The bike rental is included. If you are physically unable to bike, there are people who can transport you via rickshaw. It's quite a way to the pyramids and other ruins.

You only have two stops- the ball court and the big pyramid. They allot you time to climb the pyramid, if you wish. Definitely worth it. By arriving early, there's barely anyone there. At the bike drop off point, there are more ruins and another pyramid to view.

Alberto was very knowledgeable and one of my favorite tour guides I've ever had. It was nice to have an expert scholar on the subject matter.

Arturo and Julio were superb!
We highly enjoyed our outing with them, seeing the Mayan ruins, to include lunch, along with swimming in Cinotes, and lastly, shopping.
We had a small group of 6 people and it really helped us collectively move through the vast Coba site effectively, using the bicycles. The physical site was amazing. And the walk to the top of the pyramid was the highlight.
Do this journey!

Great tour, friendly staff, fascinating place. It may not have the same scale as Chichen Itza however its much more peaceful and still boasts some great monuments. Well worth it

The tour was very nice. Arturo was knowledgeable, I liked that at Coba the bikes were included
The Cenote was really cool. There was a place to change into swim suits
Lunch was good, I think a beverage should have been included. They wouldn't even serve water unless purchased
I would suggest to take 2 waters per person, don't forget your towel, bug spray, money trips shopping
Have fun
