This was truly one of the best experiences filled with amazing history at every turn. Thank you for the tour. I would do it again.
Early pick up from our hotel with an early arrival at Chichen Itza was well worth it. We had the place to ourselves and were able to take loads of photos and soak up the atmosphere without hundreds of other tourists - as we were leaving it was a different matter. The guide was good, lots of information given to us before our arrival. Would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in Playa del Carmen.
This was my first experience with viator and I have to say it was EXCELLENT!! We were prepared for a long day, in total 10 hours. But it was well worth it. Frank, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and had a personality that made the trip fun!! I would recommend this trip to anyone!!
we left early 4am but it was worth all the effort. The guide Marco was amazing in the knowledge of Maya culture and chichen itza . I would highly recommend this tour above the others because the knowledge you recieve you will find nowhere else. L.S. Lenexa Ks
This tour is done through Amigo Tours-Cancun our tour guide was the wonderful Marco and our driver for the trip was Carlos.
It started off with an extremely early morning with a 5am pick up at our resort. Marco jumped out of the bus to greet us and we were on our way. We stopped to meet/pick up the rest of the group at the meeting point then were on our way to chichen itza I slept the entire way!. I can not recommend enough how AMAZINGLY worthwhile it is to go early. When we arrived at Chichen itza, we were the second bus there and pretty much had the entire site to ourselves. The second and probably the best part is that it is nice and cool early in the morning.
Our driver Carlos was an extremely safe driver and we felt so comfortable in the nice clean bus that he transported us in. Marco was an amazing tour guide. He has an archeological background and his passion for the mayan culture/history is extremely clear. We got such a detailed and unique tour from him and I wish I could go back tomorrow with family and friends to have them experience it! It is such a beautiful site and the information that Marco provided us with left us literally speechless! Thank you Marco and Carlos for the wonderful trip!!
Although it was early in the morning the trip was so worth it. To be there before any big groups was great and to be leaving before the heat got unbearable was great. The guide knew so much.
What an amazing experience! It is so worth getting up early, to beat the heat and the crowds. Also, unlike other tours we did, we had an actual archeologist, Marcos, who knew the history and made the trip so worth while. The only complaint is the lunch which was awful, but that is also said in other reviews, so we knew what to expect. This was definitely worth every penny and I would highly recommend it!
eastendpete United Kingdom
the person doing it frank was so good and had great knowledge and knows his stuff
and the history he knows is good
I wasn't sure about this tour and it turned out to be outstanding. Our guide Arturo was fun and very knowledgeable. The early morning tour before the crowds and heat was definitely worth getting up early for. I would definitely recommend this.
We booked the early access tour through Viator. This tour is absolutely worth it, and the early access is a big advantage. The tour is done by Amigo tours and the guide Marco was very knowledgeable. We loved this tour.
One of my favourite tours. It is very early though if you are coming from the Riviera Maya side as you will get picked up in a small van to meet up with the rest of the group in a big tour bus. Our guide Marco was really informative and knowledgeable. We had about 3 hours at Chichen Itza, half of it was guided and the rest was our own free time. The only down part was that we were from the Riviera Maya side, so the tour bus drive to Cancun first and then we had to get on a smaller van to take us back to our hotel. We didn't up end up home until late in the afternoon. But overall, it's a great trip for history buffs.
A van picked us up at around 5:40am from our hotel in Playa del Carmen. Then we were dropped off at a large air conditioned bus. Bring a sweater or blanket because the bus got very cold. There are no bathrooms on the bus but they will make a pit stop halfway. We didn't get a chance to have breakfast but they provided us a sack lunch consisted of a sandwich, juice, cookies, and banana when we got on so you can split the food for breakfast and lunch.
We got to Chichen Itza around 9:20am and there wasn't a lot of people there. Our buses were one of the first ones. Our guide was Frank whom we enjoyed listening to as he provided information about Mayan history in a interesting and somewhat entertaining way. His compassion for the Mayan people exudes as he is a Mayan himself. We were given a few minutes to take photos and they came out nice since there's hardly any people photobombing.
After two hours of information around the ruins, we were given one hr of free time to roam about. You can buy souvenirs created by real Mayan people and you can usually get a good price with bargaining skills. There's a cenote near by but you can't swim in it.
By the time we were done, there were crowds and crowds of people in the park and in the lobby. It was also starting to get blazing hot. We were so glad that we came early. It was worth it. We got back to our hotels around 4pm.
Well worth the very early start to view the ruins at chichen itza before it got too hot. The guide, Frank, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the myans and the ruins. He took us round for 90 minutes, explaining everything in detail. The only down side was that our early morning pick up which was to take us to meet the bus was 45 minutes late, which was not good when you are waiting from 5.30am!! We booked Viator as used them in the to visit the grand canyon with no problems, so a little disappointed this time round.
Tour was excellent. And doing the early bird tour was well worth it. We beat both the heat and crowds. Would highly recommend.
This was an amazing experience! Our guide was so knowledgeable! I couldn't have asked for a better excursion to take! The early access was so worth it. We beat some of the worst heat of the day as well as the crowds. We were able to get a picture of the main structure without any people in it. How great is that! The only downside was we were never contacted about the pick up time. We had to call ourselves the day before. But that is the only negative I have about it. Pick up time was very prompt and the bus ride was comfortable. If you're thinking about doing the early access, it's worth it!! Do it!
Pre trip pick up information a bit lacking but trip and guide both fantastic
Highly recommend this trip - Frank was an excellent, informative guide - you could tell he was very proud to be a Mayan himself. Great to leave the driving to someone else and the early entry was worth getting picked up at 5am. No facilities on the bus, but they did not making a pit stop on the way back.
We thought the tour was very well done. Organized and lots of wonderful history and facts. We highly recommend the early AM, to beat the heat and the crowds. We would highly recommend this trip. Only thing is the lunch they provide is not good. A homemade bologna sandwich with banana and juice box? It would be much better to provide waters, granola bar and cracker/cookie. Things that people are more apt to eat. Otherwise just provide waters and skip the food all together. It was not a lunch.
This was a great tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. It was great to get there early before all of the crowds. I would happily take this tour again!
I really enjoyed this tour and our guide was a great asset. His instruction was top notch.
The trip was fantastic. our tour guide Marco was very knowledge. if you go I would go earlier, beat the heat and the crowds. the only complaint i have comes from the grand riveria princess which has more the meeting place at the hotel. i would not stay at that resort again but go on a trip with Viator tours run by Amgo tours.
The Chichen Itza ruins were amazing. tour operator were spot on. They picked us up at our resort at 5:30 a.m. which enabled us to beat the crowds and most of the heat. Our guide, Marcos Antonio was so full of knowledge I couldn';t take it all in.Would highly recommend Viator .
WE HAD A REALLY NICE TIME AND A VERY KNOWLEGEABLE TOUR GUIDE BY THE NAME OF MARCOS. OUR BUS DRIVER WAS REALLY NICE TOO, HIS NAME WAS CARLOS. YES THIS IS A NICE PLACE TO VISIT !!!
