What You Can Expect

Port Elizabeth Township Private Tour

Township Life

Get picked up at approximately 1:30pm at your hotel or other accommodation in central or beachfront Port Elizabeth by your driver/guide to begin your private tour.

Climb into the air-conditioned minivan and travel to the first township, New Brighton. This township, one of Port Elizabeth's first residential neighborhoods for blacks, was founded in 1903. The other townships you'll visit during the tour are Zwide and Kwazakhele.

At each stop, you'll have an opportunity to meet residents – including artists in their workshops and students at a community school.

Visit the Donkin Reserve along the way to see a 19th-century lighthouse and a pyramid with a plaque dedicated to the woman for whom Port Elizabeth is named. Return to your original departure point at about 5:30pm.

All admission fees are included in the cost of this tour. Two people per booking are required. Infant seats are available upon request with advance notice.
