Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls Tour from Portland

Columbia River Gorge

Get your feet wet on this introductory trip to the magnificent Columbia River Gorge. Choose a morning or afternoon start time and meet your coach at Director Park in downtown Portland. Then leave the beaten path for the scenic Historic Columbia Highway. Your guide narrates the cultural history of the area as you pass along the banks of the Sandy River. Spy orchards, blueberry fields and wildlife on your way to Vista House at Crown Point. From this historic site, built in 1916 as a comfort station for travelers, you'll have time to snap some dazzling panoramic shots of the Gorge and visit the museum.

Next, your guide takes you on a circuit of the Gorge’s most striking waterfalls, including Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls (with an optional quarter-mile hike) and — of course — Multnomah Falls. At this iconic Oregon landmark, visit the classic Multnomah Lodge and stretch your legs with a short hike to the falls’ prime viewpoint, Benson Bridge. Continue on to Horsetail Falls and Bonneville Dam, where you'll have a short walking tour of the impressive fish and fish ladders — and may just witness some Pacific salmon.

Your return trip follows the Columbia River scenic route, arriving in Portland early afternoon or evening (depending on your start time).

This tour was worth every minute and the views were just amazing. Our driver Mischa was excellent! If you go with him then you will have a great tour. He was cordial, very informative, explained the history of the area, the city and threw in some fun facts that made the whole experience light and fun. The mini bus was comfortable an easy to get on and off, our tour guide was a great driver as well. If you do this tour in the winter you definitely want to cover with layers, preferably wear hiking shoes since some of the falls you access via trails, ladies don't bother spending hours doing your hair before going to see the majestic falls, it will all be gone after the first one you walk to. Make sure your phone is fully charged and you have room for photos, you'll want to take many of them. At first I was skeptical of this tour having nothing but five star reviews, but now that I've been on it I completely understand why. It was amazing. My fiancé and I talked about doing it again when we come visit in the summer.

The morning waterfall tour was breathtaking and early December wasn't too crowded, leaving lots of space to enjoy the beauty of the falls. The van was clean and comfortable and the driver exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about Portland and the areas we visited. The company was a class act providing water, snacks and hot tea to warm up after wandering about a half dozen different falls. Would absolutely recommend this tour and operator. Well done!!

We booked this trip with wildwood adventures at short notice and are so glad we went, it is really a must see on your trip to Portland. Our driver mischa was very informative and friendly, driving us between waterfalls and giving us the history of the area. We were picked up on time and the trip lasted four hours. The falls and the river are stunning and we had plenty of time at each stop to climb and see the views. Highly recommended.
