What You Can Expect

Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls Tour from Portland

Columbia River Gorge

Get your feet wet on this introductory trip to the magnificent Columbia River Gorge. Choose a morning or afternoon start time and meet your mini-coach at Director Park in downtown Portland. Then leave the beaten path for the scenic Historic Columbia Highway. Your guide narrates the cultural history of the area as you pass along the banks of the Sandy River. Spy orchards, blueberry fields and wildlife on your way to Vista House at Crown Point. From this historic site, built in 1916 as a comfort station for travelers, you'll have time to snap some dazzling panoramic shots of the Gorge and visit the museum.

Next, your guide takes you on a circuit of the Gorge’s most striking waterfalls, including Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls (with an optional quarter-mile hike) and — of course — Multnomah Falls. At this iconic Oregon landmark, visit the classic Multnomah Lodge and stretch your legs with a short hike to the falls’ prime viewpoint, Benson Bridge. Continue on to Horsetail Falls and Bonneville Dam Fish Hatchery, where you'll have a short walking tour of the impressive fish and fish ladders — and may just witness some Pacific salmon.

Your return trip follows the Columbia River scenic route, arriving in Portland early afternoon or evening (depending on your start time).

This was a first rate afternoon of sightseeing. Our knowledgeable guide, John, highlighted the details, and narrated the tour with enthusiasm and humor. I was in Portland for a day and a half the tour gave me a memorable experience of the natural beauty of the area. I highly recommend it. Mark C.

Our tour guide was wonderful, very informed about the area. He picked us up on time, had water and snacks and gave us ideas for the best viewing of the waterfalls along with the history. You could tell he loved what he does and that made the tour a 5-star

Great overview of the Columbia Gorge. Our afternoon driver John was a gracious and well informed host. He added a lot of local information about the area while we explored the different stops. Well worth the money.

I was skeptical at first of this but decided last minute to go for it. And that was a good decision. It was a kick-ass trip, using the local tour company Wildwood Adventures. Our guide's name was Jessie and she did a great job. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about this to do it. It was the best part of our vacation to Portland.

This has to be the best way to visit the waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge. Ride in a luxury, climate-controlled vehicle while listening to your tour guide explain the sites, then hop out at each waterfall and lookout to experience the beautiful nature that Oregon has to offer through short, easy hikes. In addition to the waterfalls, we also visited the million dollar outhouse Vista House at Crown Point and a fish hatchery. Ross was an EXCELLENT tour guide extremely knowledgable about the history of the area. I definitely recommend this tour!

Very friendly and knowledgeable guide. It was just as advertised - comfortable, on time, and informative. Beautiful falls.

My son left his book in the van, no markings on it at all -- the company figured out to whom it belonged, called me, and brought it with another tour the next day for me to pick it up. Class act.
