What You Can Expect

Mt Hood Day Trip from Portland to Multnomah Falls and Hood River

Columbia River Tour to Multnomah Falls, Hood River and Columbia River Gorge

Your 8.5-hour trip begins early with hotel pickup from downtown Portland. You'll embark en coach for an exhilarating morning drive through the Columbia River Gorge. Catch spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains that flank the river and glimpse a waterfall or two as you approach the Crown Point Vista House.

At this historic building, constructed in 1916 as a ‘comfort station’ for weary travelers, you'll admire sweeping panoramic views of Oregon and Washington before heading down into the lush green forests that make up the National Scenic Area.

Along the forested highway, visit Oregon’s signature waterfalls including Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Horsetail Falls and the famous Multnomah Falls. Join your guide and fellow visitors on Benson Bridge and snap a picture of the 611-foot-tall cascade of water as it crashes below.

Next, continue to Hood River, a picturesque valley town renowned as a prime destination for wind sports. Watch kiteboarders and windsurfers skate across the water as you learn about Hood River’s rich environmental and cultural history. Then take some free time for lunch, shopping or wine-tasting (if whimsy strikes you!).

The final stop on your guided tour is the glorious Mount Hood, Oregon’s tallest peak at 11,249 feet (3,429 meters) and Timberline Lodge. Take a mountain walk or a self-guided visit through the renovated lodge that was once the setting for the classic film The Shining.

Your day concludes back in Portland by early evening.

Best way to see the beautiful scenery, leaving all the driving to a professional. The many waterfalls were beautiful. Mt.Hood and Timberline Lodge are breathtaking. Great scenic photography opportunities on this tour. Suggested by the tourguide, we had the best salmon fish and chips at Full Sail Brewery.

Had an awesome trip back in October. Many of the waterfalls weren't open because of the recent wildfire, but our tour guide made up for it. Would go again.

The tour was very informative and the views were spectacular. The tour bus was comfortable and the tour guide made sure we all got to enjoy everything we wanted!

We were delighted with the tour. At the Falls the parking was scarce but the tour bus has a special parking place, so we didn't miss any of the falls because of parking. The guide was informative and entertaining. We would have missed so much if we had tried the trip on our own.

The Tour was amazing and the Guide was amazing as well and Funny as hell :D. However it was a very bad weather which we couldn't actually see the Mt Hood from anywhere, moreover all roads to Multnomah Falls were closed due the fire that happened earlier the week i took the Trip. People were very nice and friendly. The guide took us to mount hood which was really amazing with all this snow on top of it. Wished it was a clear sunny day but it wasn't. However everything was cool and on time, and we did visited some cool places in Hood River. Spent sometime have our breakfast.

Phil was very punctual, friendly, and upbeat. He tried to keep us engaged and made sure we had good times. The weather was perfect and nine of us enjoyed thoroughly. Phil went extra length to drop me of at the airport on our way back to Portland.

I strongly recommend this tour company for out of city trip from Portland.

It was an awesome way to see the natural beauty of the area. We did not get to see MT. Hood because of cloud cover and snow! Despite that, we enjoyed other beautiful sights. Sarah, our guide was very knowledgable about the geology and background of the area which enhanced our tour.

Our tour guide, Becky, was excited, energetic, loved telling us about the beautiful area. Due to the fires, we were unable to see Multnomah Falls however, she provided an excellent tour with modifications to our itinerary. Another bonus, we were the only 2 on the tour, so it was a private tour -- and Viator didn't cancel. A truly amazing day! Would highly recommend!
