This 4-hour trip from Portland tours you through the splendor of the Columbia Gorge and the scenic Multnomah Falls area. Multiple stops allow you panoramic views of the Columbia River Valley and the Bonneville Dam, visits to stunning waterfalls, and a guided history of the Lewis and Clark trail.
Your trip begins early at Pioneer Square in downtown Portland, where you'll embark en coach for the drive through Columbia River Gorge. Enjoy spectacular views as the sun crests the Cascade Mountains and lights up the Gorge’s protected landscape.
As your coach travels along the river, you'll admire the natural and cultural sights, from rare plants and wildlife to geological wonders and ancient Indian rock art. Your expert guide will narrate the journey, providing historical context to the present-day surroundings.
Climb high above the valley to the Vista House at Crown Point for unparalleled views that have been enjoyed by travelers to this site since 1916. Take plenty of photos from this panoramic viewpoint before heading back down into the National Scenic Area, where you'll stop at Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls and the famous Multnomah Falls. Known as the second-tallest in the US, Multnomah Falls never dries up, even in the hot summer months. So a great picture can always be taken from Benson Bridge!
Next, your trip continues to Bonneville Dam, a masterpiece of modern engineering that provided hydropower to the Gorge since the 1930s. During your 30-minute stop here, learn about the challenging construction process and admire the grandeur and juxtaposition of industry combined with nature.
Your trip back to Portland tracks the trail of the famous explorers Lewis and Clark, touching on key points from their expedition over 200 years ago such as Beacon Rock, Rooster Rock and Cape Horn.
Your approximate 4-hour tour ends back in Portland by early afternoon.
Our guide was fantastic! An excellent tour and I highly recommend it. I learned more about the area from the guide in one touir than from any of my relatives that lived in Portland for years. Loved it and will go again!
Trip experience was too good. Half day trip package will cover almost all major attraction near portland.
Everything I expected and more. Great scenery in a half day trip from Portland.
Enjoyed our half day tour! We had a wonderful driver who also was our guide and he helped take pictures of us when we asked. It was just the right amount of time at each venue..
Very informative! The guide was great!
Fantastic! Amazing tour guide. Incredible views. And our son will be going to college in Portland next year, so it was wonderful to see the sights this way, without the stress of getting lost, or having to find parking, etc. We love Viator and will definitely book through you again. We have been taken trips in Kauai, New York City, San Francisco and now Portland and all have been fabulous and memorable.
We really enjoyed our tour, and all of the facts and other information about greater Portland that our knowledgeable guide, Brian, provided us.
Driver was awesome, lots of stories of Portland and local area. He offered to take pictures at every stop of the family in front of waterfalls, etc. Nice half day tour along the water!
