Your full-day tour of Oregon’s northern coast starts with morning hotel pickup in downtown Portland. Be sure to grab your coffee and breakfast for the ride to Neahkahnie Point, an amazing spot to look for whales and where you can see miles of Oregon's coastline. Disembark in Manzanita where you can spend time on the beach or explore the quaint boutiques in their downtown.

Next, head to Short Sand Beach where you embark on a short walk through old-growth forest before arriving at a beautifully secluded sandy beach.

Then head into Cannon Beach for some antiquing and lunch (own expense) before continuing to Haystack Rock. Walk out to Haystack’s base (if the tide is out), explore tide pools and glimpse scurrying sea creatures.

Then enjoy some free time to walk along the beach, warm up with locally-roasted coffee, and peruse the town’s eclectic shops and art galleries. Your return trip stops at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that provides a window into Oregon’s timber industry. Arrive back at your Portland hotel in the evening.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Camp 18 Museum
Those who want to learn more about logging history in the northwest, or who simply are curious about vintage logging machinery, will find plenty of material at Camp 18. Outdoor displays include multiple steam donkeys such as a Dolbeer single spool, a very early first-generation model, to a high-tech late-model Willamette compound geared yarder that was the height of technology for its day. Other displays on site include a large bandsaw from a sawmill, a self-propelled Ohio steam crane, Caterpillar-style tracked vehicles that worked in the woods, a railroad skeleton log car and other heavy equipment plus a wide variety of large and small hardware. We will make a quick stop here on our way to the spectacular Oregon Coast so that you can explore the historic equipment, use the restroom, and buy some coffee if you want.

Feel like the Spanish explorers

Even though there were just 2 of us on the tour, in a lovely Mercedes van, the drive down to the Oregon coast was mesmerizing. The highlight of the day was a short hike through the temperate rain forest of Short Beach down to the shore. Massive centuries old trees towering above you, dead stumps the size of SUVs, mushrooms and moss hugging each limb like long lost lovers, the gurgling streams, and the rugged coast adorned with layer upon layer of volcanic rock on one side, huge deadwood and milky waves crashing down on the spotless beach... all you can think of is what the early Spanish explorers must have found when they beached their ships. You can almost see a native American crouched in the dense foliage, with just some elk skin to protect his body from the cold and the rain, aiming his arrow to take you down. Don't miss this one!

This tour far exceeded my expectations! I've heard the coast is beautiful but WOW is it even more incredible in person! Definitely worth the drive, I'm so so glad we decided to take this tour. Our guide Denon was AWESOME! He took us to some extra stops as well since we were a smaller group and a bit ahead of schedule. Loved his sense of humor, he was also very knowledgeable as well. Can't wait to go back!

I had low expectations of this tour based on some of the reviews, but it was one of the best tours I've been on. Crystal was a great guide. She was flexible and let us pick where we wanted to spend more/less time. We had plenty of time at every stop. I loved it! Could not recommend enough!
