Your tour begins in downtown Portland with a quick training in the basics of Segway use. Once you’ve got your bearings on the electric two-wheeler, take off on a whirlwind adventure with your expert guide.

Waterfront Sightseeing Segway Tour (1.5 hours)

Glide along the Willamette’s west bank while your local guide offers fun and educational commentary about the area, from the sights of Waterfront Park to the bridges that span Portland’s central waterway. Mingle with joggers and bikers, wind through cherry-lined paths and stop to view the beloved Steel Bridge, a double-decker vertical-lift bridge that was the first rail bridge to cross the Willamette.

Explore Chinatown, a historic neighborhood in the midst of a revival. Then cruise past Jeld-Wen Field, home of the Portland Timbers soccer team; the Portland Art Museum, the Pacific Northwest’s oldest museum; and the bustling Central Business District before heading back to your starting point.

Downtown Historic Segway Tour (2 hours)

Your downtown historic Segway tour follows the same sightseeing route along the Willamette, but extends the journey to the Portland Marina and across the river to view the Convention Center and the Moda Center, home to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Then you’ll leave the riverside to explore NW Portland, including the popular Pearl District, a renovated neighborhood where sparkling new high-rises juxtapose converted turn-of-the-century warehouses.  Admire passing streetcars and peek into art galleries, boutiques and the famous independent bookstore, Powell’s Books.

This fun and fact-filled guided tour returns you to the starting point.

An interesting historical tour of downtown Portland - very informative. I had hoped for more discussion on the tunnels that were used in the past, but possibly we were in the wrong district. Enjoyed the ride near the river and Hector was very cheerful and information on everything else we saw.

We did a Segway along the Portland waterfront. Our guide Melissa was great and very knowledgeable about the history of the area. We have done Segway many times and enjoyed the route and felt safe. We wish that they would have offered T-shirt’s for sale.

After a snow storm in Portland, I wondered if this would work. The guide was sure we could manage it. I took my little training and off we went. But the guide took a slip and fall on his Segway. He immediately determined that it was not safe for us to continue. I REALLY appreciated his caution and concern for the safety of his client! He was a great kid and willing to refund my money! I will come back and try again!

My 14 year old son and I were in Portland for the last day of our vacation on Saturday, August 17th (the day of protests in Portland). We were originally scheduled for the 2:30 p.m. tour, but changed to the 6 p.m tour to avoid the protests. We were taken on a great and safe tour and were taken such great care of that I felt like we were part of the famiy long before our tour was over. Five stars might not be enough to express how well we were taken care of. Thank you for everything!!!

Great experience with Ryan. We loved his stories, facts, charisma and restaurant recommendations. The donut place he took us to is simply the best! (and no, it's not Voodoo donuts ;) Thank you Ryan!

This was a great way to get around Portland in a short period of time. We were able to see all of downtown and even crossed the bridge over the river and back. Guide was really knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends, especially if you are only in Portland for the weekend or 2-3 days.

10 of us ventures in these journey to tour downtown on Segways. They were a little intimidating at first because most of us were first timers. Ryan took the time to explain to each of us on how to properly and safely ride the Segway’s. He also helped ea h one of us individually do a first test run in getting in, off, balance? Maneuvering it. Needless to say we all had such a great time. Segway tour was an absolute success. Ryan was an awesome guide and funny. I would recommend this fun activity to anyone .

If you are reading reviews and are wavering in any way you should commit! We had an absolute blast! We had never been on a Segway before and were a little bit apprehensive but have no fear, everyone in our group picked up on it right away. It was a wonderful way to see the sights.

River vs. City tour allows you to go about 13 mph on the Segway there's a governor on it -- and that was really fun! Tour guide Jordan was very knowledgable, took us over the Tillikum bridge and back, showed us the tiniest park in Portland, we learned about bridges, the youngest mayor, saw a copy of the Liberty Bell, learned why there was a law passed forever ago that forbad lumberjacks to show up drunk for work, etc. PS: Segways follow the traffic laws of pedestrians not bikes so be prepared from grumbling from pedestrians. :

Riding a Segway has always been on my 'bucket list'. And what fun it was to attempt this in Portland! The staff were fantastic in getting us ready to roll the streets and parks of this beautiful and historic city. Our group was my 15 year old granddaughter, myself and locals from Portland! Plan a trip with Viator, you will be happy you did!
