What You Can Expect

'Portlandia' Tour of Portland

People's Bike Library of Portland AKA Zoobomb Pyle serves as a functional bicycle parking rack

Your 3-hour tour starts with pickup up from your central Portland hotel. Choose a morning or afternoon start — either is a great time for doughnuts and coffee in Portland! First stop is Voodoo Doughnuts, famous for its over-the-top doughnut design, snappy flavors and home of the beloved Bacon Maple Bar. Don’t worry, they discontinued their controversial Pepto Bismol and Nyquil doughnuts years ago! Afterward, head to an iconic Portlandia cafe for a complimentary third-wave coffee (with a lesson in boutique coffee from your guide) served by ’artisan’ baristas.

Tap into your guide’s wealth of local knowledge for tips on food hotspots, breweries, music venues and more. Find out where to get a whiskey with your mustache trim, a custom-made bow tie or quirky handmade art. Stroll along hip Mississippi Avenue for a visit to Land, the shop and birthplace of the Portlandia mantra "put a bird on it". Afterward, visit the Mississippi food cart pod where the episode "Stu’s Stews" was filmed, and then nosh on some Asian fusion tacos, barbecue or an egg sandwich.

Continue your scene-spotting tour throughout Killingsworth Street, the Alberta Arts District and the posh historic Laurelhurst neighborhood. Along the way, stop at In Other Words Feminist Community Center, the inspiration for the show's Feminist Bookstore.

Conclude your tour with a visit to Vera Katz Esplanade, the filming location for Portlandia’s opening "Dream of the ‘90s" scene, and onto the featured Portlandia sculpture that crowns the Portland Building. Relax as your guide offers colorful commentary on the return trip to your pickup point.

We had already gone to a few Portlandia sites prior to our fabulous tour with Ron, a fellow Portlandia enthusiast. He was so kind and accommodating to essentially tailor make a trip for us to see even more!
I do not know how he knows about all the locations because we discovered quickly after arriving that most Portlanders don't seem to think that it is a big deal. We watched 6 episodes that evening amd were so impressed with how much we recognized from the tour! Now we are even more excited about the show.
Ron did a great job. He was easygoing and eager to make our experience valuable!
