What You Can Expect

This family friendly full-day tour kicks off with morning pickup from a central Portland location. Hit the road headed east and catch the sun as it peeks over the Cascade mountains, lighting up the basalt cliffs and mossy fields of the Gorge. After an hour, your group will arrive at a select trailhead — which trailhead depends on you! This trip customizes the hike to group preference for levels of difficulty and scenery.

Next, continue to Hood River, a picturesque valley town renowned as a prime destination for wind sports. Watch kiteboarders and windsurfers skate across the water as you enjoy lunch. If watching the excitement on the water moves you, you’ll love the next activity, an introductory kiteboarding lesson!

Your naturalist guide leads the group to a favorite (and secret) kite spot where you'll get trained in kiteboarding. From this point, options abound. Fly the training kite and 'big' kite, practice stand up paddling, or take a private yoga lesson on the beach. If you’d rather take it down a notch, people-watch on the sandbank, cool off with a swim or hit Hood River’s boutique wineries.

The final stop is to a local brewery, where you can get a hearty dinner and some choice Oregon beer before the evening drive back to Portland.
