Booking process - easy
Vendor comms - very good, detailed email with instructions came following booking and the tour company rang me the day before to reconfirm.
Meeting place / time - exactly as agreed.
Train trip -comfortable and interesting
Boat trip-excellent, great views of the Douro Valley. Meal was fine but dont expect choice or haute cuisine or fine wines. Veg soup and roll followed by pork slices, boiled potatoes, rice and veg. Desert was a cake containing chocolate and ice cream. A bottle of red wine, water and orange squash was provided per couple.
On board bar - quite good, reasonable selection and inexpensive?
Tour personnel - helpful and polite and friendly.
Best day trip ever! One cannot visit Porto without taking this train and river cruise. We got to see one of the most beautiful parts of the country in one day trip. Well worth the price!
Very relaxed tour. Gave you time to appreciate the gorgeous scenery. The food was very good. Loved it.
This was an excellent trip. The whole experience was great, and highly recommend. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel and returned which was well worth the extra fee as it made it all hassle free it was a wonderful experience. The train trip up was very comfortable and an experience in itself. The boat trip down was very smooth and comfortable. The meal, wine and service was great.
But the best part was the scenery along the Douro River. Spectacular! And ever changing, around each bend of the river and thru two locks past dams. Good value for the money spent. A great way to experience the beautiful Porto area, which takes you well out of the standard city experience.
A well organized and nice day. The day before the trip a guide remembered via phone call at meeting time and place - good service. After meeting with the guide at Sao Bento Station in Porto we started with a special train for tourists be aware: not listed in the official train schedule to Régua. Enough time to walk the some meters downhill to the waiting ships. The local Wine Museum is closed on Mondays, therefore no visit was possible. The guide was waiting for the guests at the gangway and checked the names on the list, so nobody was in danger to be left behind. Shortly after the start of the boat trip a relatively good lunch with free wines and water was served at reserved tables onboard. The boat trip from Régua down to Porto was very relaxing: sunny weather, no noisy music !, some announcements concerning the local environment with vineyards, woods and small villages, two interesting water locks, crossing Ponte Dom Luis I. Finally we landed directly at the Vila Nova de Gaia Quay in Porto as scheduled. All in all a nice day ...
Great trip , well organised with tasty plentiful food, boat crew service superb, The experience going through the locks is awesome . The train trip when it runs alongside the Douro has fantastic views , and the river trip back to Porto is both relaxing informative and fun.
Beautiful scenery, friendly staff. The meal on the cruise was delicious, too ! A day well spent !
It was just beautiful. Couldn't have been better. The food was fabulous and plenty of it! The wine was also wonderful!. I would absolutely do this tour again and would highly recommend to everyone/ Thank you Viator! This is the first time we have book through you and we would definitely do it again. The only thing I would say is that we were looking forward to travelling by train in Portugal and this did not happen. At the last minute we were switched to a bus. A bit disappointing, but nevertheless we loved boat tour.
It was an excelent experience. Always again!
