Great guide, good wine, beautiful places, good food, and we got lucky on the weather. Strongly recommend this tour as a quick introduction to the Douro region.
We had a van tour, with 8 very compatible people, and a terrific tour guide/driver from Porto, through the mountains to the Douro Valley wine region. The first stop was a villiage bakery making bread the same way, with the same oven, for 100 years. The large electric mixer, with dough hook, was probably 50 years newer. Our guide cut open a loaf just out of the oven, which steamed, and smelled wonderful. We sat at a table outside, had bread, with olive oil or butter, and our first glass of port. After that it just got better. I will spare you the details. Our guide was totally at home with English, very knowledgeable about wine and port making and the region generally. He talked as we drove, about what we were seeing, and the history.
More than met our expectations. One of the best ways to truly experience the Douro valley. Miguel, our tour guide, was excellent knowledgeable, very personable and had a passion for the Douro valley and Porto. One of our best tour guides ever. Highly recommended.
Very good tour. It was worth it.
Absolutely brilliant tour, only a small group which made it even more personal and special, there were spectacular views and the Port tasting was very nice. The trip was made even more interesting and fun by our amazing guide 'Paco' as he calls himself in Spanish lol
Would thoroughly recommend it
Excellent. Small group of 8. Excellent guide. Informative and enjoyable visits to wineries. Relaxed times and very good lunch. All in all an extremely enjoyable and relaxed day in a beautiful environment.
Jonathan was an excellent guide who had a broad knowledge of history and was eager to please.
A lovely day out, including 2 tours of a wine cellar and Croft's vineyards, with tasting at both venues. The driver was very polite and very accomodating of any requests, speaking both french and english on my trip. The car was very comfortable and the hotel pickup/drop off incredibly convenient. Lunch was also included, but as a vegetarian, I had to request an omelette as there were no vegetarian dishes available, but the scenery was fantastic. The boat cruise was incredibly relaxing and gave a fantastic view of the surrounding vineyards. My only small criticism is that the tour guide could give a bit more information during the 1h40min drive to the venue from Porto on the history of the area and any surrounding areas of interest we drive past. Final word is make sure to bring some money, as I'm sure you will purchase some of the fantastic wine and port available!
