What You Can Expect

Porto Bike Tour

Cycle along River Duoro on this Porto bike tour!

Meet your expert guide next to city hall for your 4-hour small group Porto bike tour. After you complete a safety briefing, strap on your helmet and pedal off on your bike. Cycle alongside Moorish tiled buildings as you enter the Ribeira neighborhood set in the city’s UNESCO-listed World Heritage Centre. Head to Porto Cathedral and approach its Baroque porch and stunning Romanesque rose window. Learn about its many alterations dating back to the 12th century.

Continue along the Douro River and learn about how the grapes were carried down this river to Port (fortified wine) winemakers’ cellars. Arrive at one of northern portugal’s most famous attractions, Ponte de Dom Luis I, a double-decker metal arch bridge spanning the Douro. Pop off your bike, and learn how Gustave Eiffel’s apprentice engineered this bridge. Next, turn off Aliados Avenue into Liberdade square where you can capture photos of the monument to King Peter IV.

Pedal a little further, onward to São Bento Station, and see its panels that depict scenes of Portugal’s history. Then, peer through the windows at Café Majestic and observe its ornate interior featuring carved wood, mirrors and chandeliers. A short ride later discover the bustling Bolhão Market where friendly farmers come to sell their local produce and fresh fish. Finally, roll by Clérigos Tower as you cruise to the medieval neighborhood of Miragaia.

Spin back with your guide to downtown near Ponte de Dom Luis I where your tour ends.

Our guide, Sid, was friendly, knowledgeable and charming. He gave us some excellent tips for places to eat and drink. The tour was just right, long enough to give us a really good overview of the city, but not too tiring or hard. Would highly recommend.

We thought Alex was a great guide and the route he took us on was interesting and varied. I believe we covered most of the landmarks within the inner city and treated us to some of the local delights.

This tour was amazing! Maravilhoso! The guide was top. He explained everything and has a very good knowledge about the monuments and the history. Don't worry the hills! Really, the tour got from uptown to downtown about the bridge an back to Porto. We got an overview about the beatiful city and helpful tips. I liked the Porto Bike Tour. A sporty alternative to a sightseeing bus.

Great tour - our guide was knowledgable and interesting and made a very hilly Porto seem pretty flat! The bikes were comfy and we were lucky to find ourselves in a small group. Plenty of time allowed for photos and our guide helpfully took some of my friend and me together. Nice to stop off for a coffee and a Portuguese snack. The tour enabled us to make the most of the rest of our time in Porto as it gave us a great feel of where everything was.

Virginia was a wonderful tour guide! We have taken bike tours in several European cities and have always enjoyed them. Biking through Porto really requires some assistance with the narrow streets and heavy traffic. Our tour started a bit late, but we were notified by text, so no problem. We were able to stow stuff in the van so we didn't have to carry it. The tour covered a large area of Porto with stops and historical information. We loved the Market stop and bough fresh fruit there. It was a wonderful way to see Porto!
