Jose was a really great tour guide. He was knowledgeable and very friendly. Even though the tour was suppose to Jewish centric in nature, he was wiling to talk about the history of Porto too. If you're interested in learning about the Jewish history of Porto you can't go wrong with this tour.

If your interest is in the Jewish Heritage in Porto and Portugal, TAKE THIS TOUR. Our tour guide, Steve, was extremely well-versed, fun, exciting, and full of great little stories of Jewish life and history in Porto and Portugal. THIS was a fabulous tour, one that we didn't want to end. Go. Enjoy. You'll be glad you did!

There is not much of a Jewish presence left in Porto and we knew this before booking this tour. So our expectation was a nice walking tour of the old city streets of Porto with some occasional Jewish insights. We got all of that and more. Our guide led us through a very pleasant and informative walk especially in some of the neighborhoods that were purportedly Jewish. We got a real neighborhood feel. But a real highlight was when she knocked on the door of a senior citizen home run by a church group and led us into their dining room between meals, of course where a medieval ark for the torah was found and preserved during a building renovation. It was a surprise and amazing find. Their it was with a plaque and dedication preserved for those to see who ate there everyday. Obviously not a site that is generally opened to the public but we got to see it. As a side note, the other couple with us are not Jewish but very much enjoyed this walking tour of old Porto.

As we were interested in our Jewish Heritage this tour was exactly what we were looking for.
Our tour guide Sergio was excellent, Knowledgable, fluent in English and it is obvious he loves his job.
It was an eye opening experience to hear the details about the Jewish community in Porto, once flurishing and today almost non existant.
We highly recommend Sergio and the tour!!!
An additional way to get to know the past in Porto.
