What You Can Expect

Day Trip from Prague to the UNESCO Towns of Trebic and Telc

Explore the town of Trebic

Board an air-conditioned coach at your Prague hotel and travel through the Czech countryside towards Třebíč — a history-shrouded town dating back to the 11th century. On arrival, embark on a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed St Procopius’ Basilica and explore the beautifully preserved Jewish Quarter, a memorial to the coexistence of Christian and Jewish religions.

Appease your appetite with a traditional Czech lunch and then proceed to Telč, founded after the Prince of Moravia’s victory over Bohemia in 1099. Here, you’ll feast your eyes on a monumental tableau surrounded by ponds and parks: absorb the colorful charm of houses in Namesti Zachariase z Hradce and gaze at the imposing Telc Castle.

After a full-day of exploration, relax during the journey back to your Prague hotel.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended September 2017

This excursion is far less popular than the two other day trips from Prague that my husband and I took, but we liked it best. We also visited Cesky Krumlov and Karlovy Vary, both destinations that are overwhelmed by tourists. Trebic and Telc are much more low-key, while of great historic interest. You may expect a day trip that's basically private. In our case, the tour operator was our driver. His English was limited, though functional, and that was fine with us. He was very well organized and did a fine job planning our time and setting up the visits as well as several bathroom stops and our lunch. At the medieval church and the Jewish ghetto in Trebic, we had excellent English-speaking guides. More people should take advantage of this opportunity to see these lovely, well-preserved Czech towns.
