What You Can Expect

Bohemian Saxon Switzerland National Park tour from Prague with Local Guide

Pravcicka gate

Your morning begins with an 8am pick-up from your central Prague hotel by private vehicle. Depart for the wild mountains of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, and jump out to take in one of its most memorable natural wonders – the jagged rock formations of Bastei. Hear how they were formed over millions of years of water erosion as you marvel at the 636-foot (194-meter) high rocks, and enjoy spectacular views over the Bastei Bridge.

Continue through the Saxon Switzerland National Park, stopping at the German spa town of Bad Schadau and the picturesque Czech village of Hřensko. Then, drive through a dramatic panorama of mountains, forests and canyons as you cross back into the Czech Republic and venture into the heart of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park.

Make a beeline for the park’s star attraction, the Pravcicka gate, a striking natural arch carved into the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Embark on a 3-mile (5km) hike to the arch, stopping at viewpoints along the way to take photos and marvel at the panoramic views. On arrival, enjoy free time to explore or relax at the Sokoli hnízdo restaurant, overlooking the valley.

In the late afternoon, set out on the return journey to Prague, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 6pm.

Well this tour was brilliant, although it was raining it did not matter as our tour guide, Alex made it special. The walk was more then expected but we managed it to be greeted with a lovely meal at the top. Due to the rain and fog the views were not brilliant but it just gives us an excuse to go back and again and book another tour with Alex.

This was such a great experience to go off-the-beaten path in Prague! My boyfriend and I visited in early April and wanted to escape the city a bit. Alex picked us up from our AirBnB promptly in the morning. We drove to Dresdin and he gave us a quick tour through the city, before all the tourists flooded in. Then, we headed to the national park, which was gorgeous. I would highly recommend this private tour!

Ales was a wonderful tour guide - he lives in the district right beside the National Park, so he has expertise and familiarity with the region that other guides don't have. He's very knowledgeable, but gives you lots of quiet time to explore and process on your own. If you enjoy natural beauty and seeing something that is unique, I highly recommend this trip.

Ales was very accommodating to our requests to change the itinerary. We really enjoyed the hike in Bohemian Switzerland to see Pravčicka and getting to see Dresden, if even just for a little bit, was another highlight. The restaurant in Bohemian Switzerland was excellent, and some of the best food we had in Czechoslovakia.
