What You Can Expect

Private Day Trip from Prague: Mnisek Chateau, Pribram Mining Museum, and Zebrak and Tocnik Castles Including Lunch

Visit the Mining Museum in Pribram from Prague

Start your private tour with hotel pickup from central Prague. Then, settle inside your private, air-conditioned minivan, and admire the central Bohemian countryside as you journey southwest to the town of Mníšek pod Brdy.

After about an hour, arrive at Mníšek pod Brdy Chateau, whose origins date back to 1348. Learn how the chateau has undergone two restorations, in 1910 and again in 2000, and admire the stately interiors, gaining insight into the lifestyles of the Czech aristocracy between World War I and World War II.

Continue from here to Pribram, stopping on route at a stylish restaurant for lunch. Choose from a selection of four delicious, and mostly traditional Czech dishes, and then continue your explorations at the Pribram Mining Museum. This large open-air museum is dedicated to the town’s old silver, iron and uranium mining industry, and was declared a Czech National Cultural Monument in 2014.

Head inside to view the buildings and mining equipment, and learn how more than 90% of the silver and lead used by the Hapsburg empire during the 19th century was sourced from here. View the machinery and shafts, and explore the 1836 Drkolnov mine and its water wheel, a massive underground wheel that drained water from the shaft.

Finally, stroll around two of the Czech Republic’s loveliest castles. Explore Točník, a beautiful 14th-century royal chateau perched on a hilltop, and check out Žebrák Castle, the ruins of a Gothic fortress-palace from the 13th century that sits on slopes facing Točník.

Your tour then concludes with a drop-off back at your hotel or a central location in Prague.
