It would be difficult to say enough about both this tour and especially our guide, Jeremy. The tour is run through Sandemans red umbrella people and was well-organized and efficient.
Terezin is an important and somber place, but it is important to understand what it is and isn't before going. Both a prison and a concentration camp, it is not a death camp as some might expect. There are no gas chambers here. That said, some 90,000 Jews including some of the most important Jewish artists, authors, musicians, doctors and scientists of their day made their way through this camp on the way to their deaths in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. An additional 35,000 people met their end in the camp itself, succumbing to disease, exposure, mistreatment, torture, or outright murder at the hands of the Nazis.
Despite those staggering numbers, Terezin was a relatively small camp where the conditions were relatively decent. Which really drove home exactly how massive and how systematic the Holocaust was. The murder of 125,000 men, women and children was a mere drop in the bucket, and Terezin was a very small cog in a very big machine. Our guide, Jeremy, did an admirable job of painting the picture of life in the camp as well as its overall role in the context of the Holocaust more broadly. He was both compelling and knowledgeable, and he was able to answer questions while keeping the tour focused and on-schedule without ever seeming frustrated or annoyed.
The pace was brisk but not unmanageable, and it was necessary to see everything in the time allotted. Overall, this was one of the best tours we have taken through Viator, and we will actively look for Sandemans tours in the future. If you have the opportunity to take one of their tours, do it. If you have the opportunity to take one with Jeremy, consider yourself lucky and enjoy the tour!
This was a very informative and amazing trip. It brought up all the bruttality and inhumanity of the human race against each other which learned as a great deal. Valued the elements of peace and respect for each other. Special thanks to Lyle, our guide who really made this trip worth visited.
Fabulous tour if fabulous is the right word very emotive and I learnt a lot. The guide, Brian Stewart, was fantastic. Very informative and friendly. He made the whole trip even more interesting. If you were to have him as your guide you would be very lucky. An informative and complex tour that gives an opportunity to learn some interesting facts about the way the Nazi's began to put into place their plans. Sometimes distressing but, putting it simply, this is something that everyone should do if they go to Prague.
One note - the trip is a fairly long day with a fair amount of walking so good shoes are a must and in the winter take clothes to layer you are able to leave things on the bus - so take extra.
This was an excellent day trip to take. My tour guide was Sarah and she was excellent and knowledgeable about Terezin. She even gave us updates on some of the survivors still living and their stories. Terezin is huge but she covered it all with the respect and professionalism that the subject matter deserves. The highlight for me was the beautiful hidden in the back yard synagogue. Can't say enough about this tour. Highly recommend and is a must see for those wishing to learn more about this unfortunate time period of history.
TOMAMOS EL TOUR EN ESPAÑOL Y NUESTRA GUIA SARA ESTABA MUY BIEN DOCUMENTADA CON LA HISTORIA DE TEREZIN. LO RECOMIENDO PARA QUIENES AMEN LA HISTORIA Y NO QUIERAN OLVIDAR QUE EXISTIO EL HOLOCAUSTO.
Excellent tour! Kristyna the guide was excellent! The price was very good for 7 hours. Takes about 45 minutes by bus to get there. I'm not sure how you would appreciate terazin w/out a guide.the exhibits are in english but they are limited to a few buildings. The grounds have no displays.
Brian Stewart was our guide. His information was fantastic. Had read up on the camp, but his information brought home, the horror of the time
This trip was extremely well organized. Our guide Brian was very knowledgeable and was an excellent guide. The meeting point was easy to locate and then we went by a charted bus to Terezin.
It is a very interesting camp, as it is very different from Auschwitz. Our guide explained all the history in a very engaging way and answered every one of our questions.
I always like to travel by myself, but I'm very happy that I decided to take this guided tour to Terezin, as you really need someone familiar with the place to learn the history behind each building. It was a small group 13 people and I learned so much in a few hours!
Our guide was knowledgeable and thorough but not over the top. Given the nature of the experience, he was thoughtful and very good at creating the experience for a wide variety of people. I highly recommend this tour.
This tour was terrific! Our guide was very knowledgeable, interesting and kept the group organised and on time. I would recommend this tour to anyone who visits Prague.
Our tour guide, Sarah was very informative and pleasant. I highly recommend this tour to everyone.
It is hard to say one enjoyed this tour, but our guide Jeremy? was excellent. Really knew his stuff. If you want to learn about this fortress/prison/concentration camp, it is well worth the time.
We went with tour guide Terry, who is very knowledgeable, insightful and sensitive about the topic. It was an excellent tour if you are interested in the history here.
Amazing excursion! Our guide, Jeremy, was fantastic!! He could do a full day tour at the concentration camp. He was phenomenal!!
It was so moving visiting the concentration camp. Seeing history on TV is one thing, but in person....
There is a smell and appearance about the place that brings the thought of death to my mind. It was a VERY quiet place when I visited
You will need to be able to walk a distance for this tour.
If you aren't moved....
It is my first tour at concentration camp. I was not taught too much about the European War in the period of WWII, and this is a great lesson that makes me more familiar with the history of Nazi. I wish the world would learn that peace is never free, and to make to world better.
Tour was so intense because of the history of Terezin, our guide Sara is an expert and very knowledgeable. I highly recomend this tour.
The tour guide was AMAZING!!! He made such a difference. I am so glad we added this tour, so touching and critical to see.

This tour was amazing. At the beginning, the guide Kristyna painted a picture for us of the situation in Europe prior to WW2 and throughout the day led us through history until the end of the war. She was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the camp and the lives of the people who were detained there. She has a pleasant speaking voice and the information and stories she gave was just the right amount and easy to follow. The tour was well-paced and very interesting. Terezin both the small camp and the larger one- you will see both gives you a real sense of what life was like there and the tragedies and humiliations that the people who lived there had to endure. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Great tour guide and a good way to see such an important place.
The tour was expertly handled both from a sensitivity point of view as well as logistics. We always look to Viator for special trips.
Note to Viator: The tour was advertised as Prague to Terezin by train. This was by bus. Previously had seen the same comment. Suggest if train is difficult to arrange only advertise the bus.
While this is never a happy subject for a day tour, it was definitely a day I will remember forever. Please just be respectful of what this town and camp means in history, some people can be very inconsiderate without realizing it.
My tour guide was very knowledgeable and it is overwhelming to imagine the true human horrors that occurred there, but as a history buff myself, it was such an experience to see it all first hand. I wish I had all of my pictures available as there are some truly humbling feelings you get at this place.
I would recommend this trip to anyone who can really appreciate history and the human ability to overcome, even in the darkest of times. The short movie that you watch really makes you feel the history of the location and gives you a first hand view of truth and lies during that time.
Amazing, amazing tour!!!! Loved every second of it! We had a wonderful guide names Karel. It was a little exausting because its a full day so just bring along food, good shoes and you should be fine. They sold water on the bus. I highly reccomend this!
The Terezin tour was well organized and a very good value. We understand that this tour formerly traveled by train to Terezin but now they use a bus. In our opinion this change did not detract from the sobering experience of visiting this concentration camp. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour.
This was by far the best side trip that I took while visiting Prague. The guide was incredibly interesting and fully of knowledge of both the history and the area. Even though this was a very emotionally taxing trip, the guide made it worth the visit.
