Your sightseeing tour of Charlottetown starts at the Visitor Information Centre at Founders’ Hall, a museum that depicts Canada’s existence from its inception in 1864 to modern times. Sit back and relax as you’re chauffeured through Prince Edward Island’s capital city on board a London-style double-decker tour bus (in blue instead of red), checking the city's top attractions off your list. Throughout the 75-minute tour, your experienced driver will keep you informed and entertained with stories, fun facts and other commentary.

Head down Great George Street and pass by St Dunstan’s Basilica, a Gothic Revival cathedral originally built in 1896. See Province House, a National Historic Site of Canada where, in 1864, the Canadian Confederation was created. Cruise past Beaconsfield Historic House, one of Charlottetown’s best examples of Victorian architecture.

Turn into Victoria Park, a large waterfront green space on the southern tip of Charlottetown, and see Government House, where PEI’s lieutenant governors have resided since 1835. Then head a couple of miles north of the historic district, through pretty residential areas, to the University of Prince Edward Island, where you can admire its historic buildings, some of which are listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places.

Start heading back to Founders’ Hall via the city’s eastern shore, on the Hillsborough River, where you’ll pass the Charlottetown Driving Park, a horseracing track that originally opened in the late 1800s; today it’s known as Red Shores Racetrack and Casino.

Your tour then ends back at Founders’ Hall.
