What You Can Expect

Shore Excursion: Private Day Trip to Osorno Volcano and Petrohue from Puerto Montt

Cruiser ship

Receive a pickup from the Puerto Montt port area at a time of your choosing. The exact time will be arranged based on your cruise ship arrival and local traffic conditions. You’ll transfer by private vehicle to Osorno Volcano.

As you head toward this majestic peak, you’ll pass along the shores of Llanquihue Lake, offering beautiful views of not only Osorno but also nearby Calbuco Volcano as well. Then arrive in Ensenda, the starting point for your ascent up to the Osorno “Centro de Ski y Montaña,” situated at a height of 3,937 feet (1,240 meters).

Spend the next hour enjoying sightseeing and photography from this sky-high volcanic vantage point. Most days you can see all the way to the Pacific Ocean while also enjoying views of Llanquihue Lake, Calbuco Volcano and the local glacier. Visitors who want to add an extra option to their visit can stop by the coffee shop for food (own expense) or take the lifts up to higher levels, including the 4,757-foot (1,450-meter) “Station Primavera” and the 5,741-foot (1,750-meter) “Station Glaciar.” Please note that these higher levels are not included in the main trip price.

Leave Osorno Volcano behind and continue to Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, heading to Todos Los Santos Lake and Petrohué Falls. Breathe in a deep mouthful of fresh pine-scented air as you walk through an evergreen forest, enjoying views of Osorno and the turquoise-colored Petrohué River. You’ll eventually reach Petrohué Falls, a spot where the river’s waters rush over masses of crystallized lava, creating the cascade’s unique lighting effect. After the stop at Petrohué Falls, you’ll be dropped off back at the Puerto Montt Port at the end of the trip.
