WE DO NOT HAVE TIME SLOTS. We leave port 45 minutes after your ship docks. A map and meeting point pickup details will be sent to your Viator/TripAdvisor message board. Please disembark as quickly as possible and be at the pickup location not more than 45 minutes after your ship docks.

  • If you are in moderate physical shape choose the Midway 12 Falls since that is what most people can manage.
  • Minimum age 8. Children 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult
  • At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
  • It is recommended that you wear an old pair of running shoes, swimwear and a towel. We recommend women wear shorts over their bathing suits.
  • Not recommended for participants with back, neck or knee problems
  • A moderate amount of hiking is involved for the Midway 12 Falls
  • A significant amount of hiking is involved for the Full 27 Waterfalls
  • Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not recommended for those with walking disabilities and not possible for wheelchair users
  • This tour is for cruise ship passengers only
  • IMPORTANT! River conditions can change overnight. We reserve the right to amend your tour to the number of falls open on the day of the activity with an automatic price adjustment and corresponding refund. If we must cancel the tour entirely due to dangerous water conditions or severe weather you will be refunded in full.

Great Tour

Beautiful area, guides were great and the overall experience was great. This is a park area, so many, many tours were present. It felt "over booked" as there were so many people on the tour and the guides were doing their best to manage things. Our individual group was 16, and the Mama Iguana driver and guide were fabulous.

Hola Eric_N! Thanks so much for choosing our waterfalls excursion. Damajagua is a National Park and they don't take bookings. Anyone can go including locals, hotel guests and cruise ship passengers. It is also the most popular tour on the island. We never know how many people will be there but we do our best to move you without to much wait time. It's also why we ask cruise ship passengers to disembark as quickly as possible in hopes of getting ahead of the crowds. The whole experience was terrific! Very well organized, very friendly, fun, and competent guides. The tour guides Raul and Maximo were awesome. The hike to the falls was fun and beautiful, and the falls experience was exhilarating and memorable. Also, the lunch that was provided afterwards was better than expected, and the location amenities were excellent. There were no problems with finding the tour outside of the port gates, and no issues with getting back in time to our cruise ship. Dominican Republic was great!

Incredible views, easy, enjoyable zip line. The waterfalls, jumps, rock slides breathe taking. The hike has long and lots uphill stairs, but well worth it.

My family of three had a wonderful time at the falls. The meeting point directions were clearly provided the day prior to the excursion. The location of the shuttle was easy to find. Once there, our guide and driver were super the entire time. The falls were a blast and the buffet afterwards was very good. Overall we had a great time!

Good time, despite the crowd

Our guide with Iguana Mama tours, Alexander the Great and Fernando the driver were top notch. We really enjoyed them. They made the experience a lot fun. We had a great time. The fact that there were very few waterfalls and a huge line of people to wait behind was a little disappointing. I realize this is not the fault of our guide though. Alexander kept us entertained. Fernando was a very cautious driver, which was greatly appreciated. Lunch was good. We also enjoyed the rum punch and El Presidente beer after the excursion. All in all a great time was had by all of the Sexy Alcoholics. ;)

Beautiful experience

We were a group of 14 traveling with Carnival Cruise/Mardi Gras in Feb '23. (Ages 51-10yrs) We booked this trip through Viator/Iguana Mama. If you book through the cruise, you cannot jump, so keep that in mind! Only 7 falls were open but that was more than enough! We started the tour with Raúl, who was very knowledgeable about his beautiful country of the Dominican Republic. When you get off the bus, you cannot carry anything with you. No hats, no sunglasses, etc (everything is safe on the bus). Although, my friends wore prescription glasses that they could take off and give to the guides when they jumped/slid. We decided on purchasing the photo package and I highly recommend doing this. It was $45 and our "paparazzi" took over 100 photos/videos. We met Popito who joined us and kept us all safe. It was not an easy walk/hike but they took many stops and you quickly learn what "Dominican 5 minutes" means :). The jumps and slides were amazing. I am a big chicken and was just fine. We ended with a delicious DR meal and rum and coke on the bus ride back. If you book this, you won't be disappointed. Don't forget your tip money!

Awesome adventure!

Tour guide was awesome, we hired a photographer for our group of 4 and he did a great job ($70 for the group of 4) The hike is WAY longer than advertised. 40 mins up and down hills to get to the zip lines but the waterfalls are 1000% worth the walk. We are all in decent shape and the we’re points where we had to stop and rest FYI

Great guides! Fun trip but a little scary going down the waterfalls/slides. Glad we did it!! The hike through the woods to get there was nice too. A little longer than expected though.

Spectacular experience with a 5 star tour guide and driver. Both were very courteous and treated us like royalty. Our group was very well taken care of and felt very safe throughout our excursion. Couldn't have dreamed of a better time. Highly recommended!

Our driver, Mr. Jonny, and our guide, Raoul, were welcoming and provided excellent care the whole way through. The walk, learning the history, and the waterfalls themselves were spectacular. We had an awesome time and plan to come back again soon!!

This was so amazing and so much fun. Diego and Carlos were great! My wife was a little worried at first, but in the end we both had a great time. It was a decent 40 min hike up, but nothing too difficult. The water falls and jumps were awesome.

Carlos and the Iguana Mama team was fabulous. Cruise ship was directed to Taino Bay but their team came and got us. Awesome excursion to see the waterfalls. Got in ahead of all the cruise ship trips. Would highly recommend. Take go pro is you have one. Hike up the hill can be strenuous, but we took some breaks. Carlos and Chi Chi were great guides.

Couldn't have asked for a better day with our tour guide Carlos and driver Marcus! They were both so friendly and went above and beyond our expectations! The waterfalls were absolutely stunning- no one in our group has ever done something like this and all said this was the highlight of our cruise and my 30th! Would 100% do again. After the waterfalls, we had an authentic Dominican lunch which we all enjoyed. Thanks for all the fun Carlos and Marcus- we had an absolute blast!

Great activity for a cruise stop!

This trip was well communicated and organized. We were given specific instructions and were met at the entrance to the port on time. Our driver drove us to the activity and we were outfitted with a helmet and lifejacket. We were offered a photographer but opted out. The hike us was not too strenuous but we are an active couple. We only did 7 waterfalls as there wasn't enough water for the others. A small refund was given. We were the only boat in port that day and there was only 1 small group in front of us. Our guide offered plenty of encouragement and instruction. We were able to jump multiple times at one point and each person in our group jumped at least 5 times off the highest jump. Afterwards we walked back to our starting point and had a buffet lunch. The group was offered a mixed drink with rum but we declined. Overall I would highly recommend and do this again!

Beautiful and Fun

Carlos and Alex were great. The shuttle ride was comfortable--8 guests total. Enjoyed the hike to the start of the waterfalls descent--very beautiful forest. Our only reservation was that the group size (about 30) became too large as 3 different groups combined. There were a few people that should not have chosen this relatively strenuous excursion, and we had to wait on the trail a bit too much for them. I guess that is not the tour operator's fault, but people should really consider what they are capable of before going.

Worth it at least once

Overall the experience was worth it... but it could have been better. My review of the Mama Iguana tour company: The walk out to where the bus was parked is not a small walk. Expect at least 10-15 minutes. We got good instructions ahead of time, others in our small group did not. The tour guides on the way to the falls were great and entertaining but mama iguana tours is only a small part of this excursion. They really just get you to the waterfall area and back. The rest is done by the company managing the waterfalls. My review of the waterfall guides and experience: Overall worth it to experience once but not a fan of how it is all managed. First, they will try to sell you on photo package, which was overpriced. If you get it they will give you a red life jacket, if not a blue one. Throughout the experience they treated those with red life jackets like they were the only people who mattered. Second, the tour group was WAY too large for the 2 guides we had and the 2 photographers they sent along with us. Most of us got ignored the entire time. It may have been because we were there during a time when cruise ships were in port but if you can avoid the crowds then do so. Otherwise you'll be waiting constantly to go anywhere. It felt like a madhouse of people and that detracted from the experience for me. Summary: Mama Iguana tours was great but they were a small part of the overall experience. I really felt like you could have grabbed a taxi at the port and saved yourself a ton of money

Dear Season, Would you please contact me through email at info@iguanamama.com ? I am completely confused by your review because, our guides ALWAYS go up and down the falls with our customers. They don't hand you off to the park guides. Our excursion also includes lunch and rum drinks on the way back to port which you haven't mentioned. We are very well known and people sometimes think they went to the falls with us but actually didn't. I really suspect you went to the falls with another provider or, with the cruise line directly so, I would like to confirm your actual booking to investigate further. Service was not good. Besides having to walk about 20 min away from our cruise ship to get to the shuttle, our guide (Raoul) was insincere and seemingly did not enjoy his job. You have to hike in a line with dozens and dozens of tourists for about 40 min to get to the falls (mostly shaded, fortunately), and then queue in line for quite a while waiting for your turn to jump down one of the falls (or climb a ladder down). Although the waterfalls were fun, they were much smaller and underwhelming that I expected. You don’t get any time to enjoy them due to being in a line of hundreds of tourists and having constantly keep moving and figure out where your guide is. Although they said we would get 7 falls on this tour, we only did 5, and the guide tells you it’s 7 (as if we are bad at counting). At the end, the buffet is just ok and the ride back you get a rum & coke to help drown away your disappointment.

Hola Daniel_S I'm truly sorry you were disappointed. There is absolutely nothing we can do about the number of people on the mountain, particularly when there are 4 ships in port. The day you went there were 2 ships in Amber Cove and 2 ships in Taino Bay. It is the most popular tour on the island and yes, there can be long lineups at the jumps and slides. I've never heard that description of Raul before. He is one of our most celebrated guides. Our customers love him. I can only imagine that because of the crowds, he was trying his best to get you past them and so perhaps, seemed a little distant but was actually focused on getting you through ahead of the lines. I don't know how to make this better for you. We honestly can't stop the cruise lines from bringing hundreds of people at a time. Our policy is small groups of 20 or less. I believe there were 19 in your group. I will certainly investigate why you don't think you actually did 7 Falls. The only reason I can think of is safety. Again, please accept my apologies and we're all hoping for rain so the upper falls can reopen and alleviate some of the congestion. Kind regards, Lidia / Iguana Mama
