Discover the natural wonders of El Yunque rainforest on this laid-back half-day exploration from San Juan. Enjoy a walk to a beautiful waterfall, incredible views and more than 240 species of plants and animals that call this sub-tropical habitat home. Your Puerto Rico rainforest tour also includes round-trip transportation from most hotels in San Juan, professional guide and all park entrance fees.
  • Half-day trip to El Yunque rainforest
  • Enjoy an amazing world of nature trails, waterfalls and scenic views
  • Learn about the history and biology of the area from your knowledgeable guide
  • Complimentary pickup and drop off from most San Juan hotels
Explore the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest system on this half-day trip. Walk the park’s nature trails, surrounded by tree orchids, giant ferns and wildflowers, as you venture to a camera-worthy collection of waterfalls and panoramic vistas in northeast Puerto Rico.
Start your day with pickup around 7:45am from select hotels in San Juan. Then drive from San Juan to El Yunque, admiring the typical native towns and changing scenery as you ascend higher into the rainforest. This ecosystem is named after the ancient Indian spirit Yuquiyu, who was  believed to have once reigned over all of Puerto Rico, protecting the island and its people.
Begin an easy walk on one of the park's trails, keeping an eye out for any of the area’s wildlife. Make your way along paths thick with tree orchids, giant ferns, wild flowers and tropical hardwood trees, and stop by La Coca Waterfall.
Then make your way back to San Juan, arriving back at your hotel in the early afternoon.

Highly recommend this half-day trip. They pick you up from a variety of hotels/resorts in San Juan (provided you book early enough). The tour is by bus with several stops along the way to get out, experience the sights, take pictures, etc. There is a stop for lunch (which is not covered in the price for the tour). The bus picked us up around 8am and we returned around 1:30pm.

Driver was prompt and well educated on the rain forest.

The trip is mixed up with driving and walking. In my view is good bc if your going out partying the night before— your def. not able to hike for 5hrs. Lol

Anyway— we stopped at the waterfall- it was raining so we were advised not to climb the rocks to get a good picture bc it was slippery. But still standing in front of the waterfall we got good pics. The half day was well worth it. The rain forest is beautiful even after Maria...

Great tour guide. Enjoyed view from tower. Sorry couldn't take hike in forest. Waterfall at minimal flow.

My wife and I signed up for this tour with the expectation of walking through the Rainforest Trails. We spent more time driving around, walking around and eating as oppsed to walking. I believe my Fitbit registered 2,700 steps in over 5.5 hours of participating in this tour. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable but this is not what we expected. Thank You

My van driver / guide Frances was very sweet. Her husband drive the other van and knew a lot about the plants we were seeing. The hurricane had a big impact and they told us a lot about the recovery, lots of interesting history too about the forest and Puerto Rico

The tour guide was 30 minutes late and there was an additional issue with one of the tour members reservation being lost in their system (the issue was resolved before we left). I was under the impression that there would be more hiking involved - we did no hiking/exploring at all. There were 3 photo stop locations in total. The scenery was breath-taking and the tour guide was very informative and friendly. I wish that the tour description mentioned that there was no hiking, only photo ops. We also stopped for lunch at a local food stand located on the route. The food was OK - there was an amazing smoothie/fresh food stand closer to the visitor center that my husband and I ducked into before we started up the road to the park called Degree 18 Juice Bar. I wish the group would have stopped there instead! Delicious food, great decor and super friendly staff. Overall, if you don't want to climb/hike and you only want the photo ops, this is the trip for you.

The tour was great. I’m glad I decided to do this trip instead of trying to drive myself. The tour guide knew exactly where to take us to get great views and pictures.

Such a beautiful and unique place! Our guide Carlos was the best. His knowledge of the rainforest was remarkable. The views from the tower were spectacular and the waterfall is gorgeous. We had a great time. The whole experience was just wonderful.
