Hugely Disappointing

rated one star only because zero is not possible. we recognize that pick up at multiple sites may not always run smoothly, but this was pure chaos. We stopped no fewer than three times at places were no one entered the group. After a five minute wait we simply left and continued on. At one point the Guide said we would be stopping at a leather store. I suggested there was nothing in the itinerary about any stops at leather stores and that pretty much stopped that idea. Trip itinerary shows two hours at the botanical garden including time after the guided portion to stroll the grounds on your own. after one hour and 15 minutes with the guide, he promptly announced we were leaving to go for lunch. at that point we simply told the guide to continue on without us and we remained at the botanical garden and returned back to Puerto Vallarta on our own. The net bottom line is you cannot rely on anything the itinerary tells you. You will be better served to simply hire a taxi and go directly to the botanical Garden and back and purchase your own admission tickets. It will be cheaper, and much better organized. we have taken Viator tours all over the world, on literally six continents. This would be rated one of the all-time worst and should be avoided.

Garden and Tequila - excellent combination, excellent excursion

The Botanical Garden was gorgeous, and the tequila tasting was fantastic. Our guide was more than informative and enjoyable, and our tequila distillery host was so much fun! The meal at the distillery was very good. You have your choice of several options; we had grilled red snapper, and it was excellent. All together a most enjoyable experience.

Very informative educational tour

It was very informative tour, we learned a lot about vegetation of Puerto Vallarta and tequila making. We had fun day. Tomas was very professional and experienced guide. Also very multi-tasked guy, he was a driver and a guide same time. A couple things I would suggest to improve the tour quality is a) pick up system. They picked us up from zona romantica then took us to close to Marina area, reorganized us to different vans by tour, and drove us back to Zona Romantica…it would be more efficient if the tour guide just pick us up from Zona Romantica. B) lunch timing. We were hiking and walking around Botanical garden all morning, we were tired, thirsty, hungry, thought we would have lunch before going to Tequila distillery, but Actually they took us tequila tasting before lunch. Having 8 shots of tequila before lunch was not good for my stomach at all… c) driving. As mentioned, the guide was a driver as well. While he was driving, he explained Puerto Vallarta geography by showing some maps. I was very scared and uncomfortable as I was very concerned if he was not paying attention to the road. Probably he was so used to driving and guiding same time.. but he should not show the maps while driving.

This was my second time on this tour and it was just as amazing as the first. Carlos provides nonstop amazing conversation and is extremely informative!! He's one of the sweetest people I've ever met. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous and there was plenty of time to see everything! I'll definitely be going again the next time I come down to PV.

The tour was well organized and our guide was wonderful. We enjoyed the time spent with our guide learning about the gardens as well as the free time to wander around on our own. The tequila tasting was fabulous and the pours were quite plentiful. Lunch was very tasty.

Worth Your While

The tour was great! It involves stopping over at some nice shops along the way and the guide was even nice enough to give us a quick tour of downtown and the boardwalk area. The Botanical Garden was breathtaking and they sure don't mess around when it comes to the amount of tequila you will taste. You won't get to eat until the very end so I suggest carrying snacks. The biggest disappointment was the check in process. They could certainly improve on the communication front and our tour group stood outside their main office in the hot sun for over 30 mins waiting for the right shuttle.

So many memorable experiences!! From the start, our tour guide was so funny but also educational. The garden was BEAUTIFUL and worth the drive over. We were a small group, so we also had the opportunity to have a lesson on the production of chocolate and also coffee, samples as well. Lunch was good, and included. Definitely recommend.

This excursion was fantastic from start to finish! Van/mini-bus was comfortable and driving was safe. The pick up and drop off was really nice. Our guide, Carlos, had great energy and was very knowledgeable. He catered to our group and allowed for flexibility in the day. Never felt rushed nor idling too long. The short stops for coffee tasting and admiring a mountain village by a river before heading to the botanical gardens was a nice treat! Get this coffee frappe! The gardens are breath taking and even when it was pouring rain there are plenty of covered gardens and lunge areas to enjoy. Or the rain is warm and refreshing so we didn’t mind getting a little wet! Fun bar and restaurant upstairs from the shop there at the gardens to enjoy some chips and guac and a cocktail to tide over before lunch and appreciate a good thunderstorm. We head out then to the lunch and tequila place! We ordered our food and then went to do our tasting. The tequilas and liqueurs there are phenomenal and our host was so fun! Very interesting to learn about the process (and politics) behind tequila. Good was alright, but the setting and live music made the whole lunch experience lovely. You absolutely must do this tour!
