We took the Viator tourlocal operator Cultural immersion of Lake Titikaka. We were picked up by 7.30 from our hotel and after a 10 minute ride reached the boat station. The speed boat was with very comfortable seating like a luxury bus and was equipped with a toilet. It took a little more than an hour to reach the first island Taquile. In the island the guide took us on a walking tour for about an hour walking uphill was strenuous at times explaining the lives of the people living in the island. Finally we met the local family who were showing us their knitting and weaving skills. After a brief stopover at the beach we left the island to a place in peninsula for lunch. The lunch included soup and boiled vegetables for vegetarians. The food was prepared by the local community and there was a short demo how the food is prepared combined with rituals.
After lunch the boat took us to one of the floating islands Uros and there we spent about an hour. We were also offered an optional tour of a 15 minute ride in a reed boat around the island. The boat took us back to Puno by 4 pm and we were transferred to our hotel.
Overall it was an enjoyable tour in a comfortable boat.
Taquile was great, Uros is fake....they do not live on that floating thingy as you claim...google it...big lie, maybe most people eat it up, we did not!!!!
