it was fun but I found the trip to get there was a good couple of hours from punta cana but I found if you want to do anything fun you have to be willing to do some travelling
This was an amazing excursion! There is a lot of hiking and riding horses, a repel about 30-40ft down a tiny dark hole and a hike in the cave and under some water, all i can say was that it was worth the price!
We had a great time!!! Probably the best excursion we have done to date! Highly recommend! FUN!
This was one of the best travel outings on a vacation that I have ever done. Would do it again if I ever had the chance, worth every penny. The guides for the day were very entertaining and made the trip, even the river flooding, so much fun!!
It was really great! The tour itself was so fun, and we did a lot of different things- horseback ride, hike, rappel, swim. All you could ask for. The guides were wonderful! Their English was very good and they were very friendly, and took good care of us. :) The food was also bueno!
The tour guides were great and kept us entertained the whole time. Seeing the cave was worth the hike!

A fantastic trip. Everything was so well organized, and the guides were great--friendly and knowledgeable. It's a bit of a drive from Punta Cana, but well worth it. The trip provides water, a beverage after the cave exploration and at lunch, and a full lunch with vegetarian options!. The horses were in good condition and a pleasure to ride, and the cave is amazing. The guides were clearly trained in safety and caving, and the equipment was in good condition. I'd recommend being in moderate or better physical condition--it is a bit of a hike, and you'll be glad of the lunch when you get it! All equipment is provided, down to the boots. Bring socks consider knee-highs, even, to protect against rubbing from the boots and then dry socks to change into once you return to the ranch. You can change clothes at the ranch, and lockers are provided. I wore a swimsuit under the overalls they provide, and changed back into dry clothes after. If you are someone who needs sunscreen on all the time, bring waterproof sunscreen or a small tube you can re-apply.
A videographer accompanies the tour, and will sell you a DVD of the tour if you wish but there was no pressure to purchase. I chose to buy the DVD, which took 2 days to prepare and deliver to my hotel. It was quite nicely done, and I enjoyed showing it to family at home. You don't get still photographs from it. I wouldn't recommend carrying your own camera unless you are SURE it is waterproof, and you have some way to secure it while horseback riding. I brought my phone in a waterproof container, but even so, the guides looked nervous and had me add it to their drysack when we were in the river in the cave.
Best thing I did in the Dominican Republic.

One the best excursions I have ever done in my life. If you want something adventurous, active, different and away from the regular tourist trail then this is for you! Youll see out early 6:15am from your resort and have a long coach ride about 3.5 hours to the Los Haitises National Park region/Hato Mayor del Rey area, passing through several towns on the way. We had a couple of interesting comfort stops with local fayre to buy.
Once at the Ranch we were served a lovely breakfast and were kitted out with cave suits, hats, torches, harnesses, etc. and assigned our horses to trek to through the forest and to the caves. The hose riding through this terrain was amazing! The guides are excellent, funny, informative, knowledgeable and well skilled in navigating the region and the caves. They point out a lot of interesting flora and fauna along the steep rocky ascent during the on-foot part of the journey. The repelling descent into the darkness of the caves was great! Once inside youll learn all about the interior of the caves and the geology and history of the region. It was truly fascinating! After a reasonable trek through the caves, streams, crawling under boulders and through narrow openings and larger caverns we psyched ourselves up for exiting the caves through an underwater stream. Very exciting and the guides have your back! We then get reunited with the horses, enjoyed a quick refreshment and began the fairly long horse ride back to the ranch. Once back at the ranch we were served a lovely home cooked Dominican lunch. We also got to play with the pet dogs on the ranch and were shown some of the local pigs and banana plantations whilst we waited for our coach back. It was one of those trip of a lifetime kinds of experiences. Not necessarily for the faint-hearted, but we had the time of our lives on this trip. It is amazing!
Great time, family including 13 and 15 year old boys loved the tour. It was a long drive to the tour, but highly recommend it for any activity orientated families like mine.
Great adventure! Loved the horseback ride, hike and our journey through the cave. Carlos and Henry were terrific guides; Carmen cooked a great breakfast and lunch; Ronaldo got us to and from the cave safely.
Thanks for the fun!
