Very fun tour. Buggy company is very good. Only complaint, if other tourist are late, they should not make the WHOLE group wait for late tourist. There should be a disclaimer, if other passengers are late, they should forfeit their trip. We waited on the shuttle bus and at the buggy ranch for over 45 minutes for two people that could not show up on time like the rest of us. That was totally disrespectful to both the other tourist and to the tour guides.
The buggy adventure was worth the money. We had a great time throughout the entire excursion. The only thing I would have changed would be to spend more time at the Macao beach.
This tour was absolutely amazing!!!!! The dune buggies go really fast and they are very easy to use. One thing I loved about this tour was the swimming in the underwater cave!! IT WAS SOOO REFRESHING!!! Also, MACAO BEACH was breathtaking!! Clear blue waters and you can enjoy a coconut or two lol.
I definitely recommend this excursion. We had a blast. From start to finish it was amazing.
This crews was hands down the best! This was an amazing tour and we got a chance to mingle with some of the locals.
What a great excursion. I would highly recommend however, to ask for the VIP upgradeaddl 30/person. If you do that, you are one on one with your tour guide and get to go faster and spend more time at each stop, rather than in a line with 20 other buggies and side by sides. The cave natural pool is amazing. Learning about the chocolate, coffee, and vanilla from the locals was very interesting also. Macao beach was likely one of the prettiest beachesclear water, amazing views that I've ever been too. Our tour guide was Blacky, and he was great, I would definitely recommend asking for him.
Ask for Joseph and spend the extra money for the VIP tour! You are able to spend more time at each stop and you can go faster while driving otherwise, you're in a tour of about 5-10 buggies and you go alot slower. This was by far the best excursion and Macao Beach is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen!
It was a good time and nice to learn some things along the way.
There were 9 people and we had a VIP tour and that was so much fun! I highly recommend that you bring goggles or sunglasses and a bandanna! It can be very dusty! Overall, the experience was amazing! The tour was just as described online and the dip in the spring was very refreshing! I recommend this to anyone traveling to Punta Cana.
First things first: You will get muddy on this trip, especially if it has rained at any time recently. I mean MUDDY. You will go through puddles deep enough to hit the floorboards of your buggy, and it will splash up onto you and the seats. Bring a bandana or buy one there for 5, and preferably some sunglasses that cover up your eyes well, too. That said, this is part of what makes this adventure fun. You will pass other buggy adventures there's like 20 companies that do this with different types of buggies. Some are higher off the ground or more covered, but the people also look way more bored. I'd definitely say this particular excursion is for the adventurous type who isn't going to freak out about getting dirty and loves to have fun. Another note: Be careful what you bring with you. Your bag, purse, backpack, whatever will also be covered by the time you're done. I recommend maybe a small bag with a towel, even a plastic shopping bag or something you don't care about. Now... on with the actual review!
You'll start out heading out onto some of the back roads of Punta Cana and will also take a few smaller trailers the muddy is just getting started here before you end up at a 'traditional' coffee roasting facility. There you will learn a little bit about coffee, chocolate and other odds and ends and of course people will try to get you to buy a lot of things. This is clearly a 'sales' stop, but it is also informative and the english guide at this place was quite funny and had a dirty sense of humor.
After that you will head onto more back trails where the muddy fun really begins as you make your way towards the underground cave swimming pool thing. This place is actually pretty cool! The water is a little chilly but not bad. Also on the early morning excursion departing 9am we were the only ones in the pool. We all decided to go for a little swim and they took some awesome photos of us. The water there is amazingly clear and it is really a fun experience. Once again, there's a ton of people trying to sell you stuff, but they all backed off with a firm 'no, gracias'
Speaking of photos - as it mentions, you will be followed by the 'paparazzi', basically photographers on motorbikes who speed ahead and then snap photos of you as you drive past. They actually have some very nice cameras and the photos they take are great more on that later.
Once your time in the pool is over it is fairly short : you will hop back into the buggies and quickly start to get yourself muddy again after getting clean in the pool. More of the same now - lots of muddy trails as you head towards Macao beach. Macao beach is a public beach that is a bit more crowded but it was also very nice. Beautiful sand, lovely waters, but again a fairly short stay.
Afterwards you will make your way back to the facility where you'll have the chance to take a quick outdoor shower to clean yourself and your muddy clothes, and you'll also have the tour operators try to sell you a CD of your photos for 40. In this case? I thought it was totally worth it, and I never buy this stuff. You can see the photos first, and the quality is really great AND they do a very quick job of making sure you only get photos of you and not the other participants. The 'action' shots are great, showing you flying through the trails with water spraying everywhere. If you spend anything on this tour, spend it here.
After that it is back to the hotels, a bit exhausted, a bit dirty, and very happy.
