Admire the seaside beauty Punta del Este on this 4-hour tour of the coastal region in southern Uruguay. After hotel pickup, your guide accompanies you to prosperous San Rafael, Cantagril and Beverly Hills, and points out the features of each neighborhood.
Pass the seaside homes and lovely beaches of La Barra del Maldonado en route to Playa Brava, a must-see beach situated on the eastern side of the peninsula. Enjoy photo ops of La Mano (The Hand), aka Los Dedos (The Fingers) — a sculpture by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal that depicts five human fingers emerging from the sand.
Watch surfers perform on the waves before traveling to Playa Mansa on the peninsula’s other side. Then continue on to Gorlero Avenue to enjoy lunch (own expense). During your free time here, browse the shops and galleries of the adjacent Artigas Square for local handicrafts including Uruguayan leather, wood and glass products.
Afterward, meet back up with your guide for the short drive to Casapueblo, a nine-story Mediterranean-style villa designed by Uruguayan painter and sculpture Carlos Páez Vilaró. Marvel at the clifftop views from Punta Ballena, and perhaps visit the museum and gallery (own expense) to learn about the artist’s life and discover the history behind this former summer house and workshop.
After your tour, you'll be taken back to your hotel in Punta del Este.
